Wrongful Convictions: A Life Sentence | Pamela Glatt | TEDxSFU

In Canada, there are no formal supports or resources to help wrongfully convicted individuals reintegrate back into society. Imagine having to start your life from scratch, find a job, somewhere to live, while coping with the enduring traumas and stigma of a wrongful conviction. Exonerees face countless barriers to rebuilding their lives, challenges that most of us have the luxury of knowing nothing about. Pam Glatt is on a mission to change that. In this talk, Pam explores an often overlooked part of wrongful convictions - reintegration, and she inspires us to take a more holistic and compassionate approach to wrongful convictions. Pam is passionate about educating everyone on wrongful convictions and has over a decade of experience in criminal justice education and advocacy work. She has taught at leading universities across the country, and champions a number of educational initiatives on wrongful convictions across the country. Pam obtained her JD from Western University, as well as her MA and BA (both in Criminology and Sociology). This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
