Glad you enjoyed it!
Also at the 49 minute mark, would the lyric "and at this time" fit the first two bars of music? The preposition of "at" is on beat 3 which is not ideal; however, there is not another stressed syllable/word in that lyric (other than "time" which anticipates the downbeat of the next bar which is good). So, would it be okay to have a preposition on beat 3 in this case? Thanks again! I enjoy watching your videos!

It depends on how it sounds when you try it. 3 is a stronger beat. Putting “at” on 3 would accent it, so it comes down to knowing if the feel fits what you are trying to say.
Hello, thank you for the video but I have a question regarding lyric setting to syncopated melodies. What if the melody doesn't have a note directly on beat 1 or on beat 3? For example, if the melodic note comes right before beat 1 and another melodic note comes right after beat 1, then which note is stressed? Thanks!

This depends on how that affects the shape of the language and if it changes the meaning. Those are weak beats, so usually you would place unstressed syllables there. If you wanted to communicate an anxious or crazy feel, you could put strong syllables there. Anytime you move away from the natural shape of language, you change meaning and risk it not being believable.
I have enjoyed this video my brother. I have noted something that was missed in the exercises. That is setting lyrics to the emotion of the songs? I think it was more focused on setting the lyrics to the rythm part of the melody, but I think it also has to be more about capturing the emotion of the melody and setting a lyric that matches that feel.

Absolutely. This video was covering the technical aspect of this. All decisions when writing should be made with “how does this affect the emotion I want to communicate?”

Hello, in this video at the 49 minute mark, would the lyric "the champion" fit for the first two bars? The first syllable of "champion" falls on the third beat of the first bar; however, the third syllable of "champion" (which is not a stressed syllable) anticipates the downbeat of the next bar. So, would this lyric not be a good fit?

I would stress “the champion” as da DUM da da. You wouldn’t want any of the unstressed syllables to fall on strong beats.

What if one word where the primary stressed syllable sits on beat 3 and the secondary stress syllable of the same word fell on the downbeat of the next bar? Would that be ok or would the downbeat require a primary stress syllable too? Thanks again! @@athomesongwriting
What are your thoughts on lyrics where there is no noun or pronoun in a line or in a few lines? I hear method in some songs but I don't know if it's good. For example, "Dream of your face at night". There is no noun or pronoun. Is the lyric referring to I dream, they dream, we dream, etc. I think not having a noun makes it confusing. What do you think? Thanks!

It really depends on the song, and what is happening around that line. There are times where those pronouns are implied. I would say there isn't one set way to look at this. If the section makes sense without certain words, then they aren't needed. If it sounds confusing, then it is confusing. Usually pronouns are not stressed, so if a line did contain a pronoun, dream would still usually fall on the strong beats. I think sometimes singers and songwriters will drop the implied pronouns in order to make a line fit a melody. There isn't a set rule, it just depends...
I like the rhythm of Flowers but...wait till she has to cut 10 acres and prune about 100 trees!
