But shouldn’t a linear equation have first differences all equal?? I’m so confused why his differences aren’t the same??

They don't have to be equal, but what does have to be is the ratio of each y to each x. For example, if you graphed a line, not all points on that line are the same distance apart. So a table could have many random points on that line. However, If you compare each y to each x, all y/x ratios will be equal to each other.
