I’ve been writing for years, but came across your channel today and I like it! It’s so hard to find writing content from Black writers and I’m so glad I found yours 💕😭

i love watching these writing vlogs as someone who’s also trying to become an author!!! i’m currently writing my own book and am going THROUGH IT. I wrote my first book on scrivener and I’m currently using it for my second. I even used it for a screenplay until I got final draft, but I also loved it for screenplays. I also think it’s hilarious that I am stuck on my second novel and I was like I should get save the cat writes a novel and realized I had it on my bookshelf (never even cracked it open) 😂 but I love this sort of content!! So glad I found your channel 🤎🤎🤎 and your hair looks amazing btw 🤎

i have the opposite problem, i know my main plot, the middel part and sort of the end planned out, but i’m struggling to make the "filling parts" of the book interesting enough

i use the app novelist. It's really great to organise everything and you have very detailed caractersheet

Trust the process Maya your hair looks really good. I’m almost 4 years locd. If you lack confidence try different hairstyles wigs, braids, twist. Trust me they will look fuller 6 to 12 months from now

I'm a writer. I don't really use anything for organizing. I just write it. The only thing I do at most is when I made a separate page with a calendar for my last book because they were powers based on time.

I like Scrivener because I will make folders for all the Save the Cat beats and organize my chapters inside those folders. So I find it helpful as someone who uses that structure because it's easier for me to keep track of what chapters are in what beats. Also it's a word processor. But I do love Notion and you could probably organize your beats in Notion and then use a separate word processor too. But you can always try the scrivener trial and see what you think?

The first thing I thought when I clicked on your video, before you even mentioned your hair, was “omg her hair is so pretty”. It’s crazy how we see our selves so differently than the rest of the world does.

I've tried using scrivener before and though it is pretty complete in terms of tools, I've found it quite overwhelming and kept getting distracted while trying to organize things in it, as with notion. The solution I've found was Obsidian, it does the job, is minimalistic (and the colors can be changed to fit your aesthetic) you can link pages so it's easier to go from one to another if you want. Also, I've been loving your writer diaries. I've also been stuck in the planning phase for a while now so your recommendations in this video were very welcomed/helpful rn thank you ❤

I am also in the process of writing a book and I am lost too !😂😅 I keep changing everything and when I start reminding myself what I want this book to give (theme) I redo everything 🙄 Its a hassel I keep doubting myself and thinking ill never get there but I know this takes time and your writing journey is inspiring me. I love this so much. Have you tried Milanote? It’s so good.

My suggestion is to start writing. I think you may be over-plotting or making too detailed of an outline. I find that when I write I learn more about my characters as I write the words on the paper (I write with pen and paper then type it up). And the plot will come together as you write. Finally, write then edit later as per the words of John Steinbeck.

What made you want to get locs? And do you miss your looser hair? The only thing stopping me from loccing is the fear of missing my afro 😅

How long does it take you to edit each video? Because I’m wanting to get into KZread and tiktok and stuff and I can edit but I just wanted to know how long it takes. Also I love your videos and personality, like you give off such a chill but fun entertaining vibe and I hope your story goes well! ❤
