Writing an email marketing strategy is no more difficult than deciding what you want to eat for dinner. But many people struggle with an overall strategy because frankly, it sounds a bit over-the-top- to have an email strategy.
But that might just be the best email marketing strategy - keep it simple.
In this video I'm going to outline my email marketing strategy for daily emails, email campaigns and email automation.
* split the strategy into 3 areas 1:38
* Campaigns
* Daily
* Automation
* Get comfortable with testing 2:31
* Build strategy that works from proof of what works
* Test subject lines
* test email styles
* Daily emails 4:26
* Include daily emails to your list
* What would you send one person?
* Look for feedback
* Campaigns 8:01
* Cycle in 3 month/quarterly rotations
* Pick a product and build emails around that
* Work backwards from the final day of the campaign
* Launches, new products, sales drives
* Automation 12:40
* Automate what works
* Keep them simple and short
* You can’t replace sales
* Example campaign
* June 1st to August 31st
* Roughly 13 weeks
* Month 1 - ask for feedback, share older content
* Month 2 - give massive value
* Month 3 - tell people about the product and sell

    Mike, instead of sending daily emails I recommend using the email preference center where the audience can control the frequency and content. People get too much email and want control of their inbox. Give them the power to drive! Otherwise risk being unsubscribed.

    Hey Mike, I know you're one the best people to answer this, as someone who writes emails to sell, which is easier to sell, physical products or infoproducts? Just asking to have a better idea which to focus on as an aspiring email copywriter.

  • @SellYourService

    Sorry I missed this! There isn't unfortunately an "easier to sell". Both have their challenges. However, physical products *tend* to have a wider market BUT digital products *tend* to have better profit margins. If you're starting from scratch, and looking to sell your own products, I'd start with info/digital

    Thank you for coming out with content like this, it has really deepened my knowledge in email marketing. I am a little confused as in if I were to hold out this strategy do I have a separate list of email for each part (for example: a email list for daily, another for campaign…) Because it seems like people who are in the list of daily would then receive similar content when I move to campaign and automation. Thank you!

    Hey - this is really great. I love the categorization between daily, campaign, automation. A question I’ve had is how do you manage the total frequency as a result of crossover between the three categories? E.g. it is feasible that a customer would get a daily email, a campaign email, and automation all at the same day. Is there a way to manage overlap?

    Interesting approach. The most daunting thing with this though is (guess I'm not alone with that) how to find ideas (or suggest ideas to your customer) for daily emails that are meaningful and of value for your recipients. What is your (not Cam Jarrad's) suggested strategy for that? In particular for an ecommerce customer who sells physical products (no affiliate, no marketing or services etc.). I would appreciate your ideas on that. Also, do you mean you manually send all these daily emails without using any kind of automation..? Thanks Nick

  • @SellYourService

    @SellYourService

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Nick. So it boils down to your understanding of who your customers are. Your emails need to be a reflection of who they are and what their problems are. Rather than thinking about what you can talk about with your business, talk about what they're seeing in their life. The daily emails are a way of finding out what your customers want help with, what they're looking to fix or change. They're a chance for you to open a dialogue and ask more about their lives. If you're selling golf equipment or cameras or art or custom made clothing, it doesn't matter. You can still send a regular daily email helping them. Take BeastGear for example, online gym retailer. They don't just email about their products. They email about workouts, diets, KZread videos they've found, interesting blog articles and most importantly they ask questions. Happy to go into more detail. As for the emails, yes, they are the first thing I write at the start of the day and I write 2-3 at a time and my VA schedules them.

    @@SellYourService Thanks for the quick reply. I agree that the emails and the whole marketing actually should begin with the customer in mind first, with their problems. And I liked the phrase "talk about what they're seeing in their life". But I'll make it a bit difficult for you if you are up to a challenge :) How do you find (daily!) topics to talk about to people who have only bought a light bulb from an ecommerce store - because that's the case with one customer of mine right now. And he doesn't really know much about them. Plus he doesn't sell anything else... But, there is of course a unique selling point about these products, that they are full spectrum lamps which means they are good for your wellbeing and to see better, better concentration etc. The other segment of his customer base are people with what you actually mentioned in your video: seasonal depression. And they buy those light therapy lamps to feel better. What would you do? And another question, how do you avoid confusion/overwhelming your contacts when sending out campaigns simultaneously with daily mails? Cheers

    @@SellYourService Thanks for the quick reply means a lot✊🏾. I’m about to start collecting emails in exchange for song downloads and instruments so I found your video wanting to learn more about running my music business through email. I want to know if the strategy your teaching in this video with the daily emails and campaigns would you recommend me to do the same in music. I hope I said it right lol

    How do you find time to make daily emails, campaigns, automations, create free and paid content and keep up with social media posts? I can understand campaigns and automations, but daily emails seems excessive and seems like a quantity over quality mindset. I am a content creator and blogger and I am one person running the show. How can one person create daily quality emails that people care about as well as and balance creating both free and paid quality content as well as manage social media posts? Daily emails do not seem realistic to add to the work load if you're one person running your business. Maybe 1-2 emails a week but every single day? This does not seem realistic at all.
