As a Iranian I should say, in a Zoor khaneh the first and the last rule is respect to your opponent, specially when they are foreigner or guest.

Varzesh-e Bastani (Persian: ورزش باستانی‎; "ancient sport") is a traditional style of wrestling from Iran. It combines elements of pre-Islamic Iranian culture with the spirituality of Sufism. Participants are expected to be pure, truthful, and good tempered and only then strong in body. The principles of un-pretentiousness are exemplified by a verse recited at many meetings: "Learn modesty, if you desire knowledge. A highland would never be irrigated by river." (Kanz ol-Haghayegh)

Zoorkhaneh does not have Islamic roots. While Persians struggled to resist the Arab invasion and there by Islam, Iranians gave the Zoorkhaneh a religious veneer that seemed Islamic. In fact, many of its rituals are from the Ancient Persian culture. At the core of it Zoorkhaneh is a place where men learn to be men by acquiring the codes of chivalry…. In competition, you’ll notice that all Iranian wrestler are very curious of their opponents. As a foreign team visiting Iran for a friendly match, they often let you wine the first match. There’s a beautiful delicacy about this culture.

in our country we don't have peasants! every iranian group is in the same level. While in ancient "house of power" you become part of a lifestyle were kid's learn about being a strong and honest person with story's of legendary warriors in ancient iran history who battled across the world mixed with Sufisma and poetry which creates people who establish empires like Achaemenid, Parthian and Sasanian's

it looks like whoever gets dominant grips wins, I guess? To wrestlers, it should be obvious who has won an exchange, even without the takedown. (E.g. whoever has double underhooks, or gets behind the opponent with a bodylock, or whoever has the more secure single-leg). Or maybe they just don't keep score during practice, and only do for matches (or, because Iran does very well in the Olympics, maybe they have more sport-based teams that train around OIympic rules?)

It's not an "Islamic martial art"; it's the IRANIAN martial art. Arabs & Turks don't have Zoorkhaneh.

Bro half of your country speak a iranian dialect while being surrounded by ancient Iranian Tajik and Afghans and the other half speak the indigenous Indian darvidian language!! Remember Tall-i-bakun Aryan civilization in Iran is from 5400.B.C and mohenjo-daro civilization between Afghanistan and Pakistan is from 2400.B.C which is the oldest Aryan civilization around India which is the same time indus valley culture stated to mature in 2400.B.C. after Eastern Iranian groups stated mixing with indigenous darvidian Indians
