The sad thing is that the ingredients are kinda clear, but promotions keep ignoring them. Most mass events like this thrive off creating a degree of connection between the crowd (between themselves) and a focal point. The best way to do this is known lyrics. Everyone doing the same thing. Everyone on the same page. Everyone at that moment connected. The key is sustaining the connection made through the next 20 minutes and that's down to the performer. Its not *that* hard though, but its just never done and most of the time promotions seem positively to do the reverse like cutting off entrance music, having bad non-involved entrance music or just generally preventing the organic build up of atmosphere. You have to get the right music, with the the right cadence and the right "sing along" factor and so on but you need to draw in people and then not let it go. Way too much of wrestling has forgotten that.

We all had that one song we picked as a kid as our Theme song, Grado has made it a reality

I was in the building that night. This was perfect pro wrestling. The underdog baby face against the heel champion, with the whole crowd RABID. The reaction to the finish was electric. Loved it.

Drew winning in his home country, massive home crowd going nuts, had a massive entrance, like come on, how could they mess that up?

Um, Dusty and Graham have nothing in common other than they were smooth talkers.. and even if he did say that, it's not as blatant and obvious as this joke.

The best part of this was the connection he has with the crowd and that even during his entrance they feed on each other. he gets super hyped right at the beginning where he steps back to the entrance like "oh my god" at the reaction then is like "fuckin yes!"

I don't care what anyone says, no matter how many times you watch it, it still hits 😂 Grado rules

He's one of the biggest draws in the world right now. ITS YERSEL!!!

What a fucking night!!!

This is very much why Dusty Rhodes was such a big draw for a decade and a half. Grado can actually wrestle and take bumps.. while many people who look "cut" like Drew Galloway cannot do many of the basic moves. Drew actually can.. but this is classic throwback to things like when Dusty took the NWA title from Ric Flair. Neither he nor Grado held their titles long, but the impact that at any moment a long reign can end is what sells the action of pro wrestling.

I love the fact they're keeping it all low level, keeping it independant and not tiered seating! Growing so much as well and its just great :D

8 years ago. It’s moments like these that kept me a wrestling fan even though the big promotions weren’t doing that well. Now pro wrestling is hotter than ever and it’s also thanks to promotions like ICW that kept indie wrestling alive.

I fuckin love pro wrestling. The interaction between performer and audience is so much fun.

They were all there for Grado, and ICW did not disappoint! Still their best moment of all time!

Thanks WhatCulture to introducing me to this guy, I'm genuinely becoming a fan. The entrance is absolutely amazing, thousands of grown male wrestling fans singing 'Like A Prayer' in unison is strangely....almost beautiful lol.. The man can actually wrestle a bit as well, which proved he's more than just a charismatic entrance. I'm happy to share the good word of Grado to my few wrestling buddies here in New Orleans. Yes, Grado has fans here even! Good on ya m8, its YERSEL! (Did I do it right?)

I was also introduced to him thru WCPW & I saw his documentary "The British Wrestler" but I honestly still don't understand his gimmick and why he's so over, can you explain that to me?

+westnile21 I watched the Vice documentary on him as well. As far as why he's so over, I think it's several reasons. He has a clear and deep love for wrestling, particularly the scene in Britain, and in revitalizing it. That, and the fact that his body type is the antithesis of what most guys look like, and you've got a fan favorite. Add that to the AMAZING Like A Prayer theme, and it just somehow all works. Cheers to the guy for making it all work.

LuckyDT I don't like making comparisons to anyone cuz all wrestlers are unique in their own ways but to me I see him like mixed between Scottish Dusty Rhodes (with the singlet and the dancing/strut and the 'everyday common man' physique that he has) & Zac Ryder being as how he got over through the Internet/KZread just like Ryder did.

4000 people are the SECC this year. 10,000 at The Hydro next year.

Now thats a lot of fun. I can't say I know the guy, but that song? The catchy chorus, the energy he brings, just a great package entrance. I'd have a ball being in that crowd, and again, I don't even know the wrestler. Wrestling can be so much fun sometimes

I’m pleased it’s not just me, this commentator persistently talked over Joe Hendrys entrance songs too.

It's weird to think that this theme hitting would be the biggest pop in history if heard in WWE and that would be pretty awesome

Do it. One day, you'll regret never stepping foot in the squared circle. When I grow old, I don't want to say that I never gave it a shot in the ring. I'm working on it currently. It's gonna take a shitload of effort, training, and sacrifice, but I'll not regret doing whatever it takes just to have ONE MATCH.
