Welcome to the fourth installment of the journey among the wrecks of abandoned boats in the Venice lagoon and surrounding areas.
With the first video shot in May 2018, I took you to discover the abandoned boats along the canals that surround Forte Marghera.
Returning today in January 2021 you might notice that the situation has also worsened: other boats have joined those present in 2018.
Among them we note the imposing bulk of the over one hundred year old "Concordia" trabaccolo that has been stationed in the Bay of Forte Marghera since February 2020 waiting to know what its destiny will be.
I dedicated the third episode of this series of films to the "Concordia" in March 2020.
The second episode featured wrecks and junks abandoned along the banks of the Marzenego, one of the rivers that cross Mestre, in the stretch that goes from the bridge in via Colombo to just before Forte Manin.
The photographs were taken in June 2018 during a protest to urge the redevelopment of the Marzenego and Osellino.
This fourth episode is a chronological overview of 34 photographs of abandoned boats in the northern lagoon between San Giuliano and Burano taken from 2004 to 2021.
There is no claim to have made an exhaustive cataloging of all the wrecks present but rather to provide a testimony of the phenomenon by trying to imagine what they would tell us about their life before and after their abandonment by their owners.
