A tow truck used on the railroad? This is the first time I've seen a heavy wrecker used to repair a train car!

Here is my guess. I spent 27 years as a locomotive engineer with ns. That's call an on the fly repair. You more less hit the nail on the head. The wrecker can get in tight places and over weight restricted bridges and to a job site quicker than a crane. If I was a betting man they changed out a set of wheels that for whatever read went bad.....bearings cracked wheel etc that stopped the train on the spot. They eased it to a crossing the truck could back up too lifted the car up did the repairs and got moving again

The only thing wrong with this car was a bad handbrake. That is until the CO uncoupled from this car and it rolled all the way down the hill from the customer and slammed into the boxcars sitting on the mainline😂
There is a siding a couple miles from my house that cars are left to be repaired on. There are broken air hoses, bearings, and brake pads laying around everywhere.
As always, another great find and documentation of the railroad happenings in your area. 👍
Great content! Thanks for sharing!
That was pretty neat !!!!

How neat is that?
Like way you talk about things other than bells, whistles and speeding trains. Extremely informative.
This is great !, love the sound of the locomotive !
HOLY CRAP V12 UPLOADED TWICE RECENTLY 🥳🥳🥳
SD stands for Heavy Duty?! 😯😯😯 My Railfanning Perspective has been CHANGED! 😂 Nice Video Man! Keep Up the Great Work!
So this proves that the Railroad’s utilize many Different Companies for Repairs and Restoration besides Hulcher and RJ Corman who handles Derailments. 👍

This was about 2 miles from my house in Pendleton.
I guess that day was Opposite Day.
Great catch! I live nearby and go under that railroad trestle a lot.
Awesome
Heyo, great videos, just wanted to say that the red border you have on your thumbnail looks an awful lot like the red bar that KZread uses to tell us when we've already watched a portion of the video...I almost didn't watch this one because I thought I already had watched it lolol.

The man under the car at 1min 30 seconds .... nope. Not me. LOL
You find some unusual and interesting things to share with us. Thanks.
did they just leave the train in the crossing while waiting for the new crew lol
most unusual, but it worked!
Bradshaw's train services should be the heavy lift truck.
That was a nice looking pitstop
Nice.
nice video
Amazing video v12 I been wondering how that works
Very Interesting! I too have never seen a tow truck help a railroad to fix up broken rolling stock! And if I was right last I checked, NS 8099 is on a train heading to East Point GA on Train NS 198

Hoping to see that. Might be dark before it gets to ATL.
rip i missed ns 4001 with a high hood :(
Got a question about your mic, Do you use the nt-usb+ or nt-usb?
I lived in Clemson a wile back, so I'm familiar with the rail llne. It would be interesting to know what caused this accident.
Wow that’s bad
Could you see the name of the company on the truck? Didn’t look like the regulars down here. Cranemasters, Hulcher, Corman or Utilco.

I think it was Bradshaws.
It's crazy to believe that railroads will work freight cars till they aren't safe any longer.
