Why don't we use deep conditioning products like coconut oil or something alike to it? I always worry about the dogs hair getting to dry under everything after the banding. It's always made more sense to treat their hair like 4C human hair. But I'm not sure if I'm just being silly

I don't have much experience with oils. Not many people I know use oils. It can be messier and attract dirt. Most that use oils suggest to make sure its a very light oil, not something like coconut oil, but like I said I don't have experience. This dog is my second show dog and I haven't really had much difficulty growing coat with just using a conditioner after the bath and a leave in conditioner.

How long can you keep the bands in? Does it cause the scalp/skin hurt when they are taken off? I ask because most time when I let my hair out of a pony my scalp hurts
