I was in Cape Town for six weeks Oct to mid Nov 2023. I live just a two minute walk from Ayepyep on Long St. in an Airbnb. I ain't gonna lie, I had to move because they party on Long St all night every night. But I absolutely love Cape Town. There is no place like it anywhere and I been to a lot of places. Will be going back this coming October as well!

I was born in Cape Town. I've lived in several SA cities including Joburg. lived in several Namibian towns and city as well. I lived in some very remote rural towns as well. Apart from rent (which can differ greatly inside the same city), in terms of living costs, it's basically the same in all the places I've stayed. Some restaurants, clubs, shops, areas, etc are more expensive or less expensive inside the same city. I've never encountered a city with homogenous costs. Every single one of them had "rich" areas and "poor" areas with corresponding costs of things (especially rent). When I left Bloem and returned to CT, I went from renting a flat to a house and my rent was lower in CT...because in Bloem i rented in a more desirable area and in CT I rented far away from town, or campsbay, etc in a less desirable area in the Northern Suburbs. I'm on the West Coast now near the beach so it's a bit more expensive. CT in itself is not expensive. But Cape Town has a few areas that are very expensive...and a lot of areas that are relatively cheap.
