I'm full blooded Navajo, and this is so amazing that you guys are doing this. Thank you! I am good friends with Miss Navajo Princess from 2012. I was also running MN pageant but I didn't win sadly, but it was a great honor

Thank you for sharing this with your WOW audience. I was completely unaware of this competition and truly enjoyed learning about these talented women. As the one Miss Navajo said, they are real and they do exist. Part of what contributes to the ignorance towards the indigenous citizens of the U.S. is that too many people don't realize that they're not legends or characters from a movie or just a name printed in a history book___they are real life people who exist today. Their humanity has been stripped away. This was a truly educational video.

As a Navajo, and as a (gay) male, I did look up to Miss Navajo. She was like my mom, aunties, and cousins. Each year, I looked forward to seeing the face of my tribe. They, every year, remind the Native people that we are still here. They keep us relevant. Also, they know how to butcher.... They may look beautiful, but they have a knife. Don't fuck with Miss Navajo.

"You have to speak your language." Is the MOST important factor here-- Native American languages are dying! These 'queens' are way more than symbols of beauty. Each one is a living vessel of history. #SoMuchLove #SoMuchRespect #HappyIndigenousPeoplesDay
