POPS, I agree with 100% of everything you said. I'm 35, any artist I know of or listen to from today was introduced to me through my boys as well. I don't get the whole Durk thing either. He is very talented, but imo his sound just blends with everyone else. So, to literally refuse to even listen to YBs music and call it trash bc of 1 artist being in their feelings, idk I don't get it. I just have a soft spot for the kid, idk for some reason YB reminds me if like my kids or my brother and homies during that age. He's been used, misguided, and misunderstood so many times over. There was no internet, so everything that you said had to be taken at face value, therefore most people stood on their word, being loyal almost to a fault. Nowadays it's all about trolling and clout bc the internet isn't an actual place. So, this was before Hip-Hop even broke out of TX or LA, where I was raised. So, Tupac and them was like the closest to our sound. People have di*ed over this sh*t, I have been in fights, arguments, whatever, it's kind of like arguing over religion or politics it ain't going to sway anyone's beliefs. BUT, I FINALLY listened to Biggies catalog like 2 years ago. And I called my brother and was like this mfs music is AMAZING!! I could have enjoyed his music in real time. His words could have changed my life, but instead I chose to close my mind and I missed out. So, when new info has surfaced over the years on how pac and big were pretty much pawns, being played against one another, by puff and suge. And I see the industry publicly pulling the artists strings like their puppets NOW, and then the "fans" feed on the toxic chaos instead of the art, idk I just wish people would focus on the music and leave the hood politics to the people actually in the hood.
