You no doubt spend hours and hours uploading these for us and I for one love everything about them and appreciate all the time and effort you put into them! And you know I’ve said this many times before DJ but you really are a very rare gem to KZread … utterly sincere, a complete gentleman, funny, original, informative and above all … love food as much as me! Having that extra time because your hours are reduced is commendable. There’s been ups and downs that you’ve shared with us…you’ve been honest and that’s what we long term watchers admire. Just keep going, you are obviously taking it seriously. Thank you. In our Wetherspoons, they do OAP lunches, children’s portions and are open all day. It’s a while since I’ve been so I’ll give it a go. Thanks.

Good and fair Review Darren. me and my wife both work lots of hours and are not on the best of wages. we try and go to spoons every Thursday as we can both do that day. we have a breakfast and a tea or coffee for less that £14.00, we can sit chat about our week, worry's hang ups, whatever. i know the food is average but it does allow us some valuable time together on a budget. Wetherspoons means different things for different people i think. as always thanks for sharing.

People who turn their noses up to a spoons are just pretentious snobs. They are freshly cooked, good quality Ingredients and superb value for money, bottomless hot drinks as well. Looked alright to me, central London £7.76, hot breakfast, table service what more do you expect

Great honest review, my partner and i go to weatherspoons in elgin Scotland every second Sunday for breakfast, we love it, its a bargain an free coffee or tea refills too, ive tried large vegetarian breakfast, large Scottish breakfast, American breakfast an miners Benedict,there all good, my favourite is the miners Benedict its amazing, we also go camping alot in Aviemore and fort William and have lunch alot in the fort William weatherspoons, its great value any weatherspoons and food is fine too, one place id recommended is mambos in Aviemore,great beer an great food an lovely atmosphere with friendly staff 👌👍

I also had a Weatherspoons breakfast for the first time last week, i had the same as you £6.40 with a refill coffee cup. I really enjoyed it and said exactly the same as you when i looked at the bacon but it tasted lovely. I also found the butter was very nice on the toast. I went because they started a veterans breakfast club and yes i will be going again next month.

There is nothing wrong with “Spoons” Darren they give people want they want a warm environment and cheaper food and drinks. In this day and age that is something to be thankful for when you go for a night out.

@@AJ-sv5qg Actually I only drink tea or coffee when I go for a meal in “Spoons”, the price of alcohol makes little difference to me, but it may do to others enjoying time out.

Well done for your review Darren, I’ve personally had the best and the worst breakfasts in Wetherspoons, I’m guessing it’s the staff on the day because the food doesn’t change it’s all delivered the same, but it is what it is no frills bargain basement breakfast 👍 don’t forget you paid cheap for it 🤷‍♂️

To he honest DJ, I've been in a number of Wetherspoons over the country for years, and i cam say, I've never had a bad meal in any of them, whether its breakfast or main meal. I think it gives good value for money and i don't see why people have a problem with the chain. Another cracking video mate, thank you👍🙂

I quite like Wetherspoons because, as you said, it does the job. That's a very fair assessment. For breakfast unlimited tea is a plus for me. The main problem I have with Wetherspoons is the inconsistencies at their pubs. I have never had fried eggs cooked as good as yours for example. I agree about the bacon. I normally make a sandwich with it. I am new to your channel so playing catch up going through your reviews. I'm really enjoying them. Thank you

I do like my “Spoons” and I’ve been in that very branch in Farringdon although my favourite in London is The Goodman’s Field over at Tower Hill. Here in Norfolk we have several branches like around the UK but when I’m in London I always try and use a “Spoons”. Cheap beer too.

Last year, over the Summer, I did the rounds of eating / drinking in all the Wetherspoons pubs in Kent. They’re handy if you’re visiting a place because you know where you can eat, drink .. and use the amenities. The food was consistant in terms of you know what to expect, that’s what you get and it’s reasonably priced. I think the only “trouble” I had was in one of the Maidstone’s ‘Spoons where I had to have mushy peas with my Bangers and Mash instead of garden peas as they had none. 😁

I use the app so it’s relatively easy to customise it with extra (additional cost) items or, in some cases, removing items. If you’re on your own and don’t want to leave your coat or any bags it’s handy to be able to order and pay at the table.

It was so easy to get a second mushroom. Order two breakfasts. 'Spoons are good for real ale. They sell it so cheaply, it is always in good condition due to turnover. A fair number in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. Another good thing is you can get a pint and something to eat for little money when other pubs are not open. So a good venue to aim to at 10am, then head off on a beer crawl when other pubs open.

Absolute value for money, Only thing missing is a tomato!

Don't wish for a 'spoons tomato - always undercooked to the point of being raw and, like the rest of the food, cold.

Another fantastic video darren, on another note to the people who like 2 judge about your 2 channels either subscribe 2 the one you like the most or neither at all if youve nothing nice 2 say, however i cant get enough thats why im subscribed to both, happy days.

I enjoy the mix of seeing the food and seeing you eat it! Brekko looked okay, I’m not sure I’ve ever had eggs as good as that in spoons myself

Basic Fry up.Plate a bit crowded, if they can't put the toast on a side plate, take extra napkins to use instead. Its a meal,not really to be savored. More grab,chomped down. Tea/ coffee gone. Spoons have no pretentious air's & graces. It's a pit stop restaurant And it's good at what it does Like all chains its the staff, thats the key.If they care it shows on the plate. Its a from the top down problem. But to refuel,read your paper, drink 6 cups of tea. Grand Take it for what it is❤Cheers Allan&Family

Only ever have a breakfast in Wetherspoons when we go on holiday from Birmingham airport or the Good Food show at the NEC always been good I have to say. That’s a good price considering its London!

I truly enjoy seeing your videos. This breakfast seems to be a fair value for the money.

If your skint or close to it and cold and need to apply for jobs or just want to get out the house for £1 - £1.75 depending on the part of the country you can sit in a spoons for hours on end for pennies and sadly for a lot of people in 2024 that is an appealing option

Unfortunately, drinking coffee all day in a wetherspoons is not 'in the spirit of the offer' to most of the managers

The weather spoons meal looked nice and the hash browns look lovely and your eggs looked lovely 🎉

Hi Darren. Re Spoons. I used to visit hotels and restaurants for work. Spoons one of the chains. They had massive turn over of staff as I believe they were on zero hour contracts. I've been in managers offices when staff were told, they could either go home (no pay) or they'd ring around to see if other Spoons needed anybody. If so they could go there (no pay till they got there). I think now they're on proper contracts. Anyway. The food. When I used to go, things like bacon were pre-cooked on a morning and put in containers, then warmed through when orders came in. Why they're quick at serving. Depending who's doing eggs and hash browns can vary from day to day. Sometimes OK others awful. One thing about Spoons. You'll find they have 5 star for cleanliness. The managers for the high jump if not. They weren't a good company to work when I went. (my opinion). May have changed.

Great review. Nothing wrong with a spoons - yep we love a pellicci style breakfast but frankly couldn’t afford it every day on our travels- spoons do decent breakfasts - and curries - and unlimited hot drinks - what’s not to like.

I would say that the breakfast looked good - well presented and excellent value for money.

Like you said it does the job you know what you get and it’s quick and easy and good value if your on a budget ❤❤❤

My local wetherspoon's in Ireland is closing down. It's warm cheap and cheerful, I'll miss it when it's gone.

Spoons. Economical. It is what it is. Scrambled egg’s Darren…. Nooooooh not coffee - must be a cup of tea 🫖 lol . A nice strong builders tea. 😂 each to their own 🧑‍🍳

Spoons breakfast no matter what town or city, does seem to be very good, when we stayed up in Edinburgh the hotel we were in wanted £17 a head, we walked around the corner and payed £20 for 2 breakfast and unlimited tea or coffee, I have found out spoons do have hotels dotted around the country now so might have to slum it with the wife, just to see how reasonable they are!

DJ, I recommend their Eggs Benedict. Really good, great value and filling.

You'd do well to find another Fried Breakfast for that price anywhere else in Farringdon Darren 👍

Have to say, I do like a 'Spoons. I know that they get a bad rap for various "things" but as a Punter, they offer exactly what they say they will without pretence or anything. Indeed, there *may* have been occasions where a Sunday 'Spoons Brekkie with lots of (good) Coffee has morphed into a Sunday 'Spoons Lunch with lots of (good) beer!!!

before every health and saftey visit we always had a warning then spent 24 hours running about in panic trying to sort it all out lol!even the grapevine was red hot it all got shared quietly among managers they all text each other to warn them if you are about but you probably know this darren

I had a steak and chips a few years ago up in Harrogate with a bottle of wine for two people it was 15 quid not bad either,you can’t complain it’s bloody good value for money, more than some of these pompous money grabbing so called restaurants.

Good price for London, food looked decent as well.

I always have a spoons veggie breakfast as the sausages are lovely and a cheeky pint with it as a treat lol as you always say Darren you got to treat yourself lol

You always know what you're getting in Spoons. Cheap and cheerful. Does what is says on the tin. Unfortunaetly in this day and age it is the only option for some people.

Ive just had a filling fish,chips and mushy peas with lashing of HP Sauce, salt and pepper vinegar and tartare sauce and a pint of Abbot Ale all for £8.10 now that is value.

DJ doing a spoons video never thought i would see the day... Dont think your heart was in this video tbh . As for the food for a spoons this was a 10/10 the bacon always looks like that regardless of where you go You can get unlimited coffee as well you didnt look comfy sat in spoons 😂

Hey Darren. Weatherspoons mystery diner here in North London. The food varies depending on who's cooking it in my experience. I've probably done 50 or more breakfasts for them. Btw. Prices vary across different spoons. Ps. you could have grabbed a coffee after your tea. Just ask for a new mug. You pay once for as much tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

I go into that Spoons occasionally. It's one the better ones and the chefs there can cook a decent steak as well. The staff there work really hard and try to make sure you get served quickly. I've noticed the manager doesn't like tables piled up with dirty plates, as like on Sunday the pub was packed and no tables free. So the staff are In the habit of taking your plate as soon as you finish. As you said It's fine and does the job and it has nicer staff than many other Spoons .

FIRST TIME CHECKIN OUT YOU'RE CONTENT ENJOYED IT THAT MEAL I WOULD ALSO EAT IT FOR DINNER

It's spoons, it is what it is, it's cheap and cheerful, not 5* dining. I like spoons for cheap food and drinks. Our local spoons hold social meetings, chat and as many cups of tea as you want for the small price. Often go to spoons next to Leeds arena before a concert, the pizza is lovely.

Say what you want about Spoons but they are vital social hubs for a lot of communities these days. People can meet up with their mates, have a couple of pints or unlimited hot drinks and get change out of a fiver.

I can't knock Wetherspoons. I think the food is good for the price. Whenever I have been in one the staff are always friendly and create conversation, particularly if on my own. Makes me want to go back. 👍

Value, I think, if you can't buy all those individual ingredients then its handy. I like the fact you do a bit of food, menus, ambience, price and surroundings . Great 😊

Breakfast looks delicious

Spoons does do the job, its a good way of putting it. They're generally nice buildings that's decorated with a nod to the local history and located in convenient spots. They've used an old magistrate's building in Keswick (Lakes) and you can eat in the cells which nice. The beer is generally good as they partner with CAMRA. The food is cheap and the unlimited drink option is good value. I think its horses for courses but they're great on value.

Another enjoyable video, I can't grumble with a wetherspoons! Tech though Darren this is your second, doesn't matter where you had it-you had a spoons breakfast lol I also rather like the Hungry Horse chain as well!

The food is good. Only problems I have had iswith the food being virtually cold when I receive it. Also the little sachets of sauce are a pain.

I've had enough spoons brekkies in my time let's be fair it's not Michelin star nor is it meant to be, its a budget brekkie and for what it is it always hits the spot. I agree about the bacon it's always like a rubber tyre but the sausages are good by the way where was the black pudding 😊

Country is a better place for having Spoons. Unlimited refills of tea and coffee means every one of them is a place for the elderly to meet in a safe and warm environment. Walk in any spoons during the day and a group of old boys or girls will be there socialising. Where else do they have to go now especially in the inner cities. Let’s hope the spoons can keep on thriving.
