What are your thoughts on Maerua mall in Namibia?

Marua Mall was built early 1993- 1994 but new extensions and expansion had been added then.

My 2nd home city (my adopted country). Cape Town being my birthplace. The quietness and tranquility grows on a person. Based on population ratio, WHK is very small compared to other cities in Southern Africa. If you really want to experience the beauty of Namibia, then do an eco tour or visit townships like Katatura or go North. The people are awesome.

You should have walked into that SuperSpar at Maerua LIFESTYLE Mall - there's a nice coffee bar in there with German brotchens to eat with your coffee.

Maerua mall was 1st built in 1993 there before expanding over the years. Wernhill mall was opened in 1990 before expanding over the yrs. I think Wernhill is just long mall than wide as Grove Mall. Grove mall is too wide and many levels that's why they say its largest. In length it's Wernhill. Grove mall is in upmarket residential Kleine kuppe surburb. It's basically a subtown on its own. Everything that's in town is also there but u will also find things which are not in town exclusively there. More commercial and mix use construction is ongoing there as we speak. Maerua mall is owned by Oryx properties. They also own several other properties in Windhoek and countrywide including Avani hotel, Dunes mall in Walvis Bay etc. Maerua and Dunes mall are to undergo expansion as we speak.

@@JayFocused No. The owners are German descendants. Blacks are not into malls or hospitality. Most malls in North of Namibia are black owned. They also so much into diamond/mining and fishing companies. There are many wealth black businesses in Windhoek who are into real estate but not at level of whites except in North of country. One of the 10 wealthiest people in Namibia includes a black mutli billionare in rands Frans Indongo of Frans Indongo group who is more into real estate, services and manufacturing. He owns many businesses including the 2nd tallest building in Windhoek same floors as Avani hotel in CBD and is called Frans Indongo Gardens. He also own new car dealerships for Ford, Toyota etc and hotels, lodges accross the country even at Walvis Bay Lagoon and food processing. Even Hilton hotel in CBD is franchise black owned. Whites are into real estate for over a century. Some of the these big Germans got loan financing to start their business in Namibia in 1900 from Deutsch bank or German bank that time. So they come a long way.

I’d personally say it’s a mix, throughout the country the further south you go the more white people you can see, they’re still the minority overall but it’s not like they aren’t common to meet and interact with them. They are still Namibian citizens.
