awesome video. intense muscularity and athleticism, with extremely physical style of play. thrilling to watch. you just wanna get out on the court right now. also, the camera angle, mid-body level and sacrificing at least the near corner of the court, is best for filming badminton. you are right in the action, you understand every shot, and you read whole flow of energy. @4:05 check out the footwork going from the back of the court to cross-front and back and front again. the way BWF films it, from high above the court, is like reading a transcript of the match instead of watching it. you lose perspective on the height and even the length of shots, or the effort of moving between the front and rear court. this is like standing courtside and watching your friend play

Aldo's footwork makes him stand out more in the beginning, but it looks way too tiring and in singles being that explosive just doesn't look worth it your opponent will wear you out with their defense.. A few of his shots were really low quality and just speed, his own shots put him under a lot of pressure. 0:57 1:39 this backhand drive of his is not steep enough and the opponent just keeps driving it back down at him. Also, he seems to like getting in to position for his anticipation a lot, creating really huge gaps when his opponent plays another likely shot. I think this is fine, but maybe at the higher level they don't do this because it's really physically draining?

You are right. The main reason it looks and is tiring, is that he is probably nervous and hence setting his rhythm and positioning very frantically to full 100% blast and max pace throughout, which is a sign of either immaturity/inexperience or nervousness. That kind of pace is only really reserved for scramble situations and most importantly, for doubles play. Using a neutral game(meaning neutral shots like mid height clears, center court netshots and drops) and slowing the pace down to catch your breath while also looking to create an opportunity through superior deception is a necessary tactic to manage your stamina/point ratio which is what high level badminton is all about. That was lacking here and both were playing a very honest physical game, albeit a very fine one. I'd say imvho, there's nothing to really criticize here because the level and quality of basics are already very good for a grassroot level badminton tournament. The only real problem was the tactics and higher level thinking that was slightly lacking compared to pros. And even then we are talking about all this in relation to pros which is already a big compliment in and of itself.
