Have you tried the hairspray technique? After pouring the resin but before the alcohol inks you spray a light spray of hair spray, it creates a surface where the inks don’t spread and mix as easily reducing muddying.

It’s no use saying I NEARLY spat my tea out, because I DID spit my tea out. Big time. What a wonderfully successful and beautiful experiment! I’ve tried the four hour epoxy but not with piñata sinker. I didn’t get enough pattern with the sinker I used. I find pinata tends to bloom more, so it seems here to be ideal for thicker resin! My cheeks have been puffed up all day. Made my year so far ❤

I’ve dabbled with alcohol inks but never been happy with the results. I’m so glad you mentioned that even the experts can never guarantee successful results. I’m going to order some of that 4 hour demould resin and start experimenting. Will also check out Claire’s channel. Nice video 👍

I have a coaster that used the let's resin brand alcohol inks that has been exposed to sunlight off and on for about 4 years, and it's still pretty decently dark and red... so yeah they are the best option.

Sadly JDiction won’t ship the Resincrete kit to the UK 😔 Love the hearts. I learnt this technique from Daniel Cooper (who in turn learned from Miriam). His ‘stir at one hour’ technique gives great results with normal cure resin. I’m guessing you’d have to cut that time a bit with the 4 hour - as you did. And I love Claire Holloway’s pieces!

I'm a newbie to resin and resincrete stuff (even though I have a stockpile of stuff ready to go ;) ) My question is do you use mold release on Resin and Resincrete all the time? Thanks for sharing :)

I have release spray but I rarely use it. If I think it's going to be difficult to unmold, I'll use it. Let it dry well before pouring resin. I've never used it for any of the powder resins though. 😊

Yes we should always use spray release. I have a few molds I’ve wrote No Spray & Spray on. I’ve kept count of the pours. The molds I used no release spray lasted for 6 to 8 pours and were dull & barely able to pull the pieces out towards the end. The glossy finish was less each time & finally deteriorated, unusable . The sprayed molds I’ve used 20, 25 to 30 times before having to retire them. Every time I we pour a mold it takes a little bit of the finish off with the demolding. With the release spray it has a barrier to protect it. Also, when the piece is cured enough to pull it, remove it. The longer it stays in the mold the more of the finish is effected. For more tips on mold have a look at Robert Tolone channel.. he’s a professional who worked for Disney & others making molds for decades. He’s been doing 3d printing for a few months so go back in his videos playlist for mold making and tons of info. I don’t make molds but I find his videos relate to other arts. Happy Arting!🌹🌹🌹 Edit: I also spray release on my reusable silicone cups. After cleaning I will use the spray inside & out and then put them in a zippee bag for next time. They stay nice and pliable for a long time. Without the spray they last a while but they get to the point where I’m cleaning them and see pits in the surface.. finally throwing them away. Spray keeps them in top shape for so long.. and that’s with constant alcohol cleaning & tape cleaning. Spray costs a few cents per application but molds & measure cups are expensive. I use the Sprayway brand in a red can from Amazon.. I’ve tried a few others with less results that were more expensive for smaller cans.
