    As a massive Paladin enthusiast and someone who is massively pumped for WoW Classic, this video makes me so euphoric. Thank you for making this. I even learned a few things. For example I didn't know that each of the founding paladins had a designated libram.

    judgement set for paladins for me is the best set in all the game to this day - funny fact is that set was made in 2004 for vanilla wow :D. but in my opinion I love tbc paladins when they pop the wings and they have judgement set with epic ass weapon. you know chit will go down.

    I come both carrying praise and unwanted opinions. Guess I'll start with the praise - Tommy you did phenomal work with this one. It's not without complaint, but curiously the qualities that might warrant complaint are also the very same qualities that make you seem more human, like an everyman instead of a random youtuber up for high praise or wanton destructive criticism. Watching this my thoughts went from "Hey this isn't very good, even I could to better", to me contemplating "hey all the work that went into this, it's pretty impressive". And besides everything you went through vocally, you listed alot of artwork 90% of which I haven't seen before. And then there's the accent, in your best moments you have the perfect narrator voice. I started WoW early, played in the beta and then from the start of the official game, paladin was my choice because of the awesome backstory of the class (along with maybe a fourth of the starting players back then). With a christian background it made even more sense. Looking back at it, I'm sad the class was what it was and how it all played out. I mean it was great support and I loved that, I had some amazing times using the astonishing support abilities of the class, but basically not a single active offensive ability which is odd for a cleric/knight combo class. And in the end as most people know it ended up as a joke class. Either stand in the back as a human male wearing a int skirt/robe and cast those mana efficient lesser rank heals, or be made fun of and be passed off as useless. And either way, the aftermath resulted in the whole paladin class being made fun of. It is what it is but it's kind of sad considering the class background. Nowadays it's getting more and more dragged down by real life politics. Ingame humans are having to answer for real life racism, you even had someone ask about the racism of ingame humans only includin other people of the same race into the paladin order (that race not being black, white, yellow or whater but just simply... any human). It's absurd to me. The game is already extremely watered down from what it once was, the esthetic fantasy has been removed and replaced by real life political ideals that is making it hard to see it for what it once was - a completely made up fantasy game in a different universe with stalwart humans, devout clerics and skilled elves fighting against the alien onslaught of invading orcs. Nowadays alliance are the bad guys. Why? Because they have white humans inspired by western ideals, which are obviously racist. It's much cooler and also more PC to play on horde side, with orcs who waged several wars of genocide against another race but are currently thought of as the misfit "discriminated against" race, bloodthirsty trolls, and other noble creatures. The alliance/horde ratio in the beginning was heavily skewed in the alliances favour as far as I know and it was a problem. It's equally a problem in horde favour now but some of the reasons behind it are more than disgusting. It's like some people will pass off any current political guilt burden on the humans of the game, and will forgive and forget anything and everything of the other races. It's wrong but more than that it is skewing the game and making it more in line with current real world politics, which is not what gamers are looking for in a game.

    a few points your audio needs equalising properly you are so quite compared to the interlude music that it deafens. there were so many parts in the first 5 min i could tell where you were turning pages on the script "the opposite of the light was the...............void" practice your pacing. Just need some polishing up but good job though

    paladin origins are very simple, there were two devs in blizzard, that had problems from childhood - their hands were growing from place where usually other appendages attached.. so they were asked to develop a support class, thus they created monstrosity only they can create.. buffs 5 minutes, dps 0, taunt 0. And to compensate lack of intellect of people who would choose this class- they gave them bubble, but its not certain, maybe it was given so it is easier to roll paladins around.

    Would you say that the humans are kind of racist for initially wanting to have an human-only order of paladins?

  • @TommyMaze

    @TommyMaze

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Dave, Well, I think they did a good job explaining this as close to real-world as it gets. There are factions and camps in the politics of the human kingdoms, as well as the nation/kingdom divides. So some were very much on-board with Elves welcoming them into the Alliance and some viewed them as a weaker species. There was a lot of trade between the Dwarves and human kingdoms as well giving them a more or less a working relationship. All of that being said yes I do think there were some camps inside the paladin and priest orders, that we very racist. Thinking that Paladins and Priests should follow a "human only" policy. I actually talk a little bit about this in my Scarlet Crusade video but I will be putting together a lore video on the Human kingdoms and I think this will be a great topic. Thanks for watching and the question!
