    It’s easy to forget not everyone has large budgets or even want to invest that amount in an RC to play with now and again. I like the idea of finding a good starting base RTR that will get you going but is worth some upgrades down the line when money or RC interest increases. Some people don’t want to have a full RC hobby but enjoy a run ever few weeks when the suns out. I’m going to upgrade this and fit some better but still budget brushless electronics and servo. A kind of stage two for an owner who wants a little more but still has a limited budget. Video coming soon.

    Hi Gav, thanks for another interesting video! Thats a cool car, esp for the price. Its great you can upgrade from the base model like you suggested. Just one thing, its sometimes really hard to see detail on cars when they are on the bench there infront of you. You will be talking about an aspect of the vehicle and we just cant see it because it blends in with whats behind... It almost needs a white back ground for contrast. Maybe something for your new studio.... Thanks again. Matt Gauranga :-)

    I ran a 5900kv and it rounded the wheel hex and crack the other wheel. Yes you can put 17mm with adapter and extensions. The wheel hex are to long and the nut doesn't secure tight, ends up falling off. The truck is very tough, I flipped it cart wheeled it and nothing broke. Tires ballooned badly. I'll be putting a post on Facebook ZD Racing Group of wheel options. From RC Cars and Music. A good tire to use are Redcat Racing Dukono tires, very good I hit 40mph on grass and street.

    Don't waist your money the brushed one. The brushless model has tons of upgrades. I got the brushed truck and put a brushless system in. Stripped out the ring and pinion on the first run. Pot metal straight cut gears vrs helical cut steel in the brushless. The brushless has so many better parts! Do your research before buying this. Different shocks, radio, chassis, ring and pinion, spur gear the list is long.

    Taking the price into account, so far it looks like a good starter buggy for a part-time RC person who doesn't want to spend £400 or someone who just doesn't have that level of money to blow. I'm going to upgrade it soon on a budget and then push it a little harder to see if it can take more power and more abuse. Basically replicating what someone might do after a while when a little more money becomes available. It will be interesting to see if it can be a solid starter platform for people. After a good few hours of hard running, I will open up the driveline and see how things are holding up.

    The Midnight pumpkin body is lovely looking but it can crack. My son has one and it’s taken a good bashing. From a driving point of view, this buggy drives so much better while the charm of the Lunchbox and Pumpkin is the bouncing around slightly out of control with the front wheels in the air. I think you would like driving this buggy more than the Tamiya but your 7 year old will probably like the pumpkin. Let your 7 year old decide and I think you will be happy.

    Low turn motors are far less efficient than higher turn motors .. they simply achieve more revs at a lower voltage and drain more power. Higher turn motors or lower kv motors can make just as much power but need more voltage to do do. But it's more efficient as makes less heat draws less amps to create the power. More turn motors can handle higher voltage than low turn motors kv is just how many rpm the motor makes per 1 volt .

    Won’t destroy the esc, but wíll destroy the LIPo due to the risk of deep-discharging the LiPo. The Absima version has somewhat higher quality electronics with a 3s lipo compatible esc that actually hàs a setting (via a jumper) for LiPo, ànd a separate receiver.

    Hi, I'm a noob when it comes to the RC world so please forgive me if this is a stupid Q, me and my son bought this and then burnt the engine out 3 days later ha ha my fault I stuck a 7.4V 80C 5200mAh 2S in it which I think ran it to hot for too long but it was great up until that point. I was looking to upgrade it to brushless so new motor which I think I now have my head round regarding KV and T but when I'm looking at a new ESC I'm getting totally confused with the sensor ports the lights plug into I've been on this for days now and its driving me crazy do you know of a good priced brushed combo set or an ESC that would have the sensor (lighting) ports or do they all come with these ports but they just don't show them in the pictures.. Thanks for any help.

    Lol he has no clue about sensor ports for lights because there is no such thing. Lights don't plug into the esc. Sensor ports on ESC are only to plug into compatible motors that have sensor ports. Light generally plug into the receiver if it has spare channels. If this care comes with a combined esc reciever then u will need a new receiver and new controller as well as esc.

    This is indeed a good looking buggy and the price point makes it very tempting. Have you done anything else to it than attaching the wheels? I have a WLtoys 10248 unpainted and repainted to my liking and converted to a crawler. Changing the motor and electronics revealed the big downside of these cheaper cars; the quality of the screws and of the plastic you screw them in is really a big big disappointment if you're used to Tamiya, Traxxas, Kyosho and MST standards... This made me decide never to put any of my hard earned money again in one of those cheap cars. I like building and working on them to much and the poor quality of the used materials rook almost all of the pleasure out of it. That's just for me, I can see them getting young people into the driving part of the hobby, which is a good thing on it's own.

  • @RCKickschannel

    @RCKickschannel

    3 жыл бұрын

    Nope nothing but drive it in its stock form. The WLToys are best when left stock and just enjoy them as is and not mess about with them too much. This being a 1/10th upgrading the electronics would be fine but like you say, dismantling them too much will start to show issues with screw quality. That said you can purchase any issue parts for little money vs an expensive full parts tree. I wouldn’t say a Tamiya TT02B would be any stronger than this buggy but the plastics precision and finish are better. It’s pointless comparing a Tamiya to this as you can’t get a tamiya buggy, ESC, servo, battery, trans and receiver plus slow charger for £150. If anything it’s more like £250+ It all comes down to your own needs and budget. For me I think you are getting a total bargain for the money but obviously it’s not a Tamiya or Kyosho but it fits a different purpose. 👍🏻

    This being a 1/10th can handle rough terrain a bit better and it has the benefit of taking normal electronics. The quality is close between the two so apart from the size difference, it’s a close call. Road and gravel the WLToys, fields and rough stuff this.

I don't say this is not a good car. it's a nice car but that kind of money is too expensive for Chinese car... I would rather go fo r Traxxas Rustler for that money... 😊
