This conversation was phenomenal!! Thank you for tackling a hard topic. After 30 years of marriage we’ve reached our hardest moments!! My husband lost his job and cascaded into a deep depression. ( our marriage had been shaky for some time prior to that) He completely rejected me. I was a stay at home mom with our 6 children. I was not opposed to working but he wanted me home and at the same time making money. I had to do some deep inner work by the grace of God and give room for him to find his way. It’s been 4 years, all the children are out of high school. I’m happily working and doing what I love. I was counseled to leave by many but what held me is what one of the ladies said -“Did I know that he was the one for me from the beginning?” The answer is yes! Therefore I will stay no matter what. I am finding my happiness because it’s not dependent upon him. Slowly but surely he is finding his way again. We live in the same home but separate. I’m still believing that by Gods grace our marriage will be restored and that we will be “jubileed”( I think that’s the term you used). I just love your frank honest open conversations from an African perspective! I’m from the Caribbean and married to a Nigerian. My expectations were the story book, movie, eurochristian ones. I had to search the word of God and dig deep to discover that the real thing is very different. I have a promise in God’s word that says that “ love never fails” so my quest is to discover what that looks like as to how I’m to demonstrate that. How does one live 1 Cor. 13: 4-8 I love you all ladies! I wish to host conversations like these one day on my own channel. You’ve inspired me!! Blessings!

Not yet married but in my mind it's registered that it's forever not because of the excitement of having to be married but because I have see people who have kugumad and right now they're enjoying the fruits of their struggles and the ones that decided to leave are kinda finding it very hard to get back into that space that they had before. Girls ladies women as long as it's not life threatening please give it time.

What Aggie said just reminder me of my late step dad. This gental man came into our lives when I was 12yrs. But he had been single for a very long time. But when he got my mom all he wanted was a friend. So when Aggie says old age needs a friend. To the both of them their friendship was more than any thing. He died so happy. To point when he did I felt so bad for my mom because she had lost her friend

This was very emotional to watch but good. Thanks ladies. We need a part 2 to also show the good things about marriage, those situations you feel you wouldn't have made through without your husband. Tell the good stories too ...why we love these men even if they hurt us in one way or the other. Let's hear someone talk about staying for the man even before staying for the children. I think we need to celebrate such men too.

Life is too short to be unhappy!! I am on Pumula’s side. Leave. My parents stayed for the kids (and societal image) but sleep in separate rooms for the past 15 years and counting of a 40 year marriage 🤷🏾‍♀️ I just got married and me and my husband talked about our “no’s” that are an automatic divorce during our courtship. No questions asked. Divorce. I’ve seen happy divorces

It was a nice conversation. Adding on what Angie said, one of the partners has to lead the way and hold fort and fortunately, it encourages the other partner to work on themselves. I am speaking from a place of having seen my mother do it and my Dad with time realized he didn't want to be left behind. So unless it's life threatening, then try to preserve your marriage. Even after you have left , the next person you get, there will be work to be done. And more so prayer works, include the big man up there and He will reward you with beautiful things.

I decided to take marriage as a journey , and since I know not what to always expect, I decided to take with me the one who holds the keys to All unknown and I am glad I did today is my wedding anniversary. Been doing life with my man for 17 years. Work towards thriving and not surviving. That has been and is my goal. Just like we work at many things we need to work at our marriages. These habits we do see happening now the fact is they must have given a warning before but we really tend to ignore just because we are in love. And if you kept ignoring up to the state of not having option then you will continue leaving in a hurt and you will term it perseverance. We need to sort out issues when they come. Let's say first time you forgive, second time, you forgive third time you forgive, the fourth round it's already become a habit so it's upon you to decide whether to continue and persevere and accept him the way he is or not. But as you are persevering those habits shouldn't be the reason of your annoyance in the marriage. I do personally bet this so called okuguma is living an unhappy life in marriage for the sake of the children. Tell me when this man will think of sharing love with you having come back at 2 or 4am. This is a total separation indirectly.

Thanks, ladies for such a great episode. The conversation was authentic and very interesting. I am definitely with the “Kuguma” team. Marriage is not easy; that is why it requires commitment and staying to keep the family unit intact is worth it, but it calls for selflessness because you have to put yourself last. As Rachel said, looking inward to focus on what you can do to improve your situation before looking at what you expect your partner to do for you is an excellent place to start.

It’s clear that the discussion is opening our minds and hearts to creating a narrative that speaks to our evolving journey of our relationships from one generation to the next. I love the complimentary stories each women used to make their points. Thank You all’

If I could like this gazillion times I wud have!!!!! Wow wow wow, it was such a great educative conversation!!’I like the openness u pple display without sugar coating reality. I’ve loved and loved it. It was encouraging for those who have been facing challenges in their marriages and thought they were alone. Thank you for being real and tackling real life issues with openness. I personally have been healed and blessed. I’m in agreement with Rosette’s point of praying about the marriage. Thank you thank you

Thank you so much ladies, i love the kuguma so much but you might choose too but still your partner in the old age leaves you and takes all the things you worked for together, eg spending the resources to care for the current partner( building them houses, buying cars etc) leaving you with nothing, I’ve seen some old women left alone. So i advise as you kuguma you be doing some personnel savings for the old age to avoid disappointment.

Another very interesting, informative episode. I love that you guys share honest bits about your experiences with us. I agree with you all hence my leaving the man who gave me a ring and became a different person altogether. Rather single and happy than in a marriage miserable.
