In our quest for seeking out a more healthy and sustainable lifestyle, we made a plan that includes zero waste living, tiny home living and full-time travel. We considered buying an RV, looked at trailers and airstreams but settled on doing a bus conversion for our off-the-grid, tiny house on wheels. We bought a 1996 MCI 102 D3 coach bus and with the Bus Demolition and Interior Shell complete, we turned it into our Tiny Home on Wheels and are now traveling!

I definitely agree with you about having a second pair of eyes and navigator. Since my wife passed I have been traveling alone and it takes a lot more planning. I also enjoy Harvest Host for overnight stops.
Builds are never complete, they're just ok to use until something big needs fixing, hey if you've managed a year then that's pretty good going.
Highway 18 is always like that part of the day, yes a lot to see here that you did not have time for. I have the opposite problem with my door, locks me in and have to pull it hard if it's aired up to get it open.
Hi Mela and Don. I loved the views you got from the bus as Don was driving. Pity about the noisy door.
Safe travels back east my family lives in southwest oxford ohio I live in florida God Bless
Thanks for sharing this journey with me. Safe Travels Always God Bless Y'all Mucho Love From Your Friend In Michigan Tam 💜💜💜💜
Heyy Mela, Don Pizzicato and hello Mr Sweet Face beautiful scenery, love the animals get the door fixed lol wonderful drive ,thanks for sharing stay safe
Guys, thank you for this walk down memory lane! We lived in WA for 20 years and moved to FL a year ago. Yes the 101 loop, especially on a bike, priceless! And looking at Mt Tahoma.. erm Rainier has in all those years never gotten old! Thank you guys!

Glad you enjoyed it!
Watching your video today you were in my neck of the woods. And in September I was going to take our camping trailer over Highway 18 but I wasn’t going to go over the mountain because I wasn’t sure how construction was going on. So watching your show today I think it’ll be just fine.
Safe Travels and Enjoy!!! ❤️❤️
Ha, I know Don from his Kontakt instr channel and started watching the bus renovation during covid. Nice to see you on the road finally. Have fun guys!

Thanks Barry, you have a great week too
Omg, that noise would drive me up a wall. Glad you're getting back to the to do list. I hope you made it past the fires by now. It is not good air quality here in Centralia today and its horrible to look at the numbers for Eastern Washington. Stay safe.

Ha ha yeah that squeak is awful. Thankfully it’s not constant, we have to be traveling a certain speed, certain amount of wind….but definitely moved up on the to do list now that we are traveling faster on the freeways!!!
Just watch the signs!!

Try this Ajax, hand soap, dish washing detergent best thing for shaving bumps acne, and others. GEN irritant skin rash been using this stuff for 30 years works great.
Hi guys Rex from Fort Steven’s ….. I hate Hwy 18 ….. safe travels

Still loving the videos... Watching the part where you connect your vehicle in the rear... How does that process actually take (start to finish) with all of the connections, aligning the car, etc..?
@Rehabit8

Not long at all. If we are dumping, we start the dump and then go hook up the Jeep. We have our roles in the process so it goes super fast. Maybe 2 or 3 minutes, but we’ve never timed it. The waste water won’t even be finished dumping by the time we are done with the Jeep.
I like your breathing method! I'll have to try that! I experienced the exact same thing leaving the peninsula, except I drove the section of the 101 to where it was closed and had to turn around and drive all the way back. 😒 Hope you guys are doing well in the heat!!! 💛

Yes! Ha ha! That’s why we didn’t want to go that way lol we thought we’d learned from what you said but ended up there anyway 😆 Yeah, I think our little breathe breaks make a big difference ❤️❤️❤️
You should be able on Garmin to say no ferry and etc?
I would ride with you! Come pick me up😅😊
grew up in the state of Washington, but sorry I could not travel with you...... I am allergic to cats hahahahaha.

Hi Don. I checked out your travels after you posted on Deal Compressor. Very cool! How do you find time to put together the Deal compressor videos while traveling?

He is a busy man :) but we never travel on Thursdays so he can record and edit DC. Our weeks always look different, but thursdays are set!
Do these MCI's NOT have Jake breaks? Is that because they have a hydraulically shifted automatic (like an Allison)? In the newer OTR bus's, did they go to semi auto transmissions like on a 18 wheeler, or?
Do you have separate monitors for your left and right sides? If so, where did you get them. I want to do that for my car.

We have 3 back up cameras. Very helpful. Probably bought off Amazon
Garmin? Why not use an imap or Google maps? It’s more accurate
@Rehabit8

The garmin is for RV’s so you put in your height, length and weight of your vehicle and it takes you in roads that are safe for your size. If we used google or IMAP’s we’d run into problems like bridges we can’t fit under, roads too narrow for us to turn onto, bridges we are too heavy to drive on etc
crazy hot? Laughs in Texan....
Just man up and get an RV mapping machine and quit -fading about. Garment does a good job but there are others to . Vehicle height, weight limit, etc., etc., etc..
@Rehabit8

Dude the Garmin is specifically for RV’s with height, weight , length etc

@@Rehabit8 of course it is, but your parameters fit the description and you would be infinitely safer on the road than what you demonstrated in this video of your preparedness to be on the road. and less of a hazard to other drivers by having better routing. I was a full time RV’er for 7 years in a 42’ Holiday Rambler PLQ and the Garmin had our back every single day. Before that I drove semi in the lower 48 so I’m not without some experience of the dangers of unprepared drivers. You have a responsibility to others on the road to be safe.

@@PeterPazucha as I said, both the Garmin we use and the RVlife app have ALL the parameters to keep us on a route that is safe for our height, weight and length. At no point in this video or any other time we have been on the road were we a hazard or putting anyone in danger. Thank you for your concern but whichever device’s route we had chosen to follow we would have safely arrived. It was simply a matter of choosing a route with less traffic and less expense.
