Which scenario? For the death note they can't use it most likely and even so you can defend yourself. For the healing, humanity is selfish and you might become an object of war. You may be tested on to see if they can reproduce another version of your powers and you wouldn't be able to defend yourself.

There is literally no point in having the ability to heal anyone of anything and revive the dead, can you imagine the overpopulation? Even with this power, you would be the only one to posses it, which means you would be chosen to sacrifice your whole life to heal people or live the remainder of your lifespan being hated because you do not use such power. Sacrifice your whole life because there are too many people alive and you wouldn't get even close to healing everyone and add the millions of people that get sick everyday or whatever, dying is just how life works. On the other hand, a book to kill anyone would prove far more superior, kill Hitler with the stroke of a pen? Kim Jong-un? You would save uncountable lives by just jotting down a few names.

I highly doubt one person with the ability to revive the dead one at a time will cause over population, also being able to kill anyone can be very useful but it also has drawbacks like if you write the wrong name or some one has the same name as someone else you could accidentally kill innocents. Not to mention it doesn't exactly end well for the person in the anime it's based on.

I would rather die than live forever. Just think about it for a minute. Sure, living forever sounds great, but we're talking about forever. You would have to live through the pain of watching all of your loved ones die. Family, friends, pets, all of them, and you would live on. You would see countless wars, countless deaths, and you would still live on. You would watch the end of humanity, as civilisation crumbles. You would see the last struggles of the human race as they try to survive, and even then, you would still live on. It would get very lonely, with no one else to talk to. Sure, you could live forever, but would you really want to live literally till the end of the universe?

+Dante Glory Even without selling it to save African children, the other option was ONE. ONE child, and a random one. You get to feel the guilt knowing that you only helped one single random child, every time you see another African child starving on TV you're reminded that they weren't the one single one that was luckily chosen like a lottery. Reminds me of the Fallout: New Vegas "lottery". Meanwhile, the lightsaber is cool, and while sure, you didn't save a life, you could go and adopt an African child and congratulations, you've just done both sides of the "Would You Rather", and you get to show your kid a cool fucking lightsaber.
