I’ve had to do exactly that. Had to make the notification to a family whose seven-year old got killed riding in front of a car on the bicycle they’d given him earlier that morning as one of his Christmas presents. Just one of those Christmas memories that cops get stuck dealing with. And no, that wasn’t my worst.

She handled that completely maturely. Despite the circumstances, she was still able to offer her appreciation and acceptance of them. In this story, She is a hero too.

🇯🇵I'm Japanese. I rented this movie when it was new and available for rental a few years ago. I learned that there are some strict basics for messengers, and what I remember is that 1) you must tell the family within 24 hours of the death in battle, and 2) you must never touch the family. Recently, with the spread of many video services, Blu-rays, hard disks, and digital televisions, rental video stores have closed down one after another, but there is still one large store left in my neighborhood, so I would like to go and rent it soon. It is not available on the American video service I subscribe to.

The biggest problem with berets all around the world is that they can very easily look ridiculous if you´re not constantly keeping them in place.

Wow. I've seen Woody Harlson play the Fleet Admiral of the US Navy and I've seen him play a father and a hero and kick ass zombie killing jerk wad. But this really hits home. The man has range.

Not at all, but I can see where you are coming from. They are not required to wear them, but if they didn't, their superiors (who awarded them some of them) could be upset. For most soldiers it makes sense just to wear what you have.
