Maybe Tamera dont jump into the fray of racism because she is both black and white , also her offspring, not even to mention that her husband is white , so she cannot really pick sides , she has to stay mutual , because regardless of what she says especially if she goes to profound and then with "degree Amanda " in the mix , whoa , can you imagine how that will go , that will shut social media DOWN. so Tamera knows silence is golden in certain circumstances.

The best way to know what is acceptable with any culture is to be inclusive. There's so many ways to do this whether it's joining a mixed book club, exercise class, church etc etc. If you really want to learn about a culture, how about finding ways to increase your social circle. It's also important to know that regardless of what race you are, we all have different backgrounds, upbringing and cultures so inviting one Black person to come to dinner and tell you about their Black culture does not speak for the whole Black race. Let's start with debunking our stereotypes.

I get wanting some light hearted convos but unfortunately you have to get REAL sometimes. They have a new host that has a masters in a topic. The Real has been doing light hearted topics for years. I think it’s fine if they dedicate some time to REAL topics. And if that makes your uncomfortable, it’s unfortunate because it should make you feel empowered. I do

Mrs. Kinney This entire post actually made my stomach turn. The fact that you’re getting sick of the topic means that it doesn’t affect you. It’s not to dictate your mind. It’s to educate you until you UNDERSTAND. If speaking about racism drains you, it’s because you’re in denial that you too are the problem.

Unfortunately a lot of people that wear dark skin are navigating in a world that can be hostile covertly or overtly. We live in a society where race and apperance affects everyday life. It is not something we can just take off and put away or change like hair color. To not be followed around a store or be pulled over for "Being in the wrong neighborhood" .To outcry to silence the experience of your fellow man to ensure that you are comfortable and entertained for an hour shows a lack of empathy. It must be nice to have the luxury of not having to have the microaggressions we as a people experience in this society (Even in the medical field)affect you on a daily basis. Cheers🥂

Ok this right here, this is it! This is what I've been waiting for. A civilized discussion on real life issues, conveyed with empathy and compassion. I genuinely appreciated how considerate Amanda was with the other girls, by allowing them to talk. I am the type of person that LIKES to see others succeed. I do not want her to fail. I guess realistically, we forget ( I am 100% guilty of this) that Amanda is from New York, and in that area you have to be hardcore. I think with the political and social climate we live in, people are seeing how tough things are getting. It's hard enough trying to keep a positive mindset amid a civilly unrest world. I honestly think people just want something positive and happy to think about, and watch. I guess my suggestion is to shine the best qualities of these beautiful women. When they discuss their viewpoints, I love it when I see their concern and interest in what others have to say. I also love it when I see they are able to agree to disagree on certain topics. I have a huge amount of respect for people that are able to be mature and appreciate different perspective on life. Just my two cents. Anyways, I do see the progress!

This is one thing Adrienne is right on, I’m a white woman 27 who’s been imbedded with racism and when I went to high school in a city area, there were only 2 black people; a brother and sister. I speak out for equality for all now and have for the past several years, but just last night I was at a restaurant and a black couple walked into the bar and the bartender looked at me rolling his eyes like ugh, I’m going to get a shitty ass tip and I looked back and without a thought or hesitation I rolled my eyes back. They asked the bartender what’s good there bc it was their first time there and he rudely just threw down the drink menu to them without even looking in their direction. I realized what I did and moved a seat down, introduced myself and told them I come here probably once a week and these are the best drinks here, these are my favorite, etc. Being imbedded with racism can be hard to change, especially the older you get, but it can ALWAYS be worked on and everyone can ALWAYS do better. I’m sorry if you disagree, but this is a really story by a really white woman in her mid-upper 20’s who grew up in white neighborhoods and schools her whole life and has been taught racist views her whole life... this is being honest and realistic.

HOWEVER you can literally do this for free.. to be able to be courageous and honest enough with yourself to say “ I know the thoughts I have aren’t and weren’t right I need to change and I need help “... I appreciate that but there’s more to do than just use 2 thousand dollars towards one event to learn about the black culture and experience so u can understand us more... there’s several ways to get to know us and break bread and learn about us... i think Adrienne’s idea was good too... a Potluck where everybody gets a chance to learn about everyone’s individual culture and the overall culture ! There’s more work to be done that’s what I’m saying...

I admit I'm racist even to my own race because of my experiences but I admit I feel it's wrong but I grew up hearing"white people" in my black community. When I watched USA election for the first time I got confused on the voter results. It named voters by race and I was appalled. As someone who received racism when I knew none not even the n-word I knew until another 6yr old called me that on my school bus. Since then I became racist. But I have friends of every race, more so than that of my own race who also used reverse racism on me because I "talk white" (Grew up in suburbs with only the other black people I saw actually related to me) So I'm guessing since that first experience at the age of 6, I seem to address everyone by race and even had to check my racist remarks in regards to Chinese people and coronavirus. Just felt your comment encouragd me to share that I recently learned what your saying and I want to address people by their names not their color. I have Chinese friends and I don't want them to be hurt when I see Chinese people with masks and I feel the need to move. I admit I'm finding it difficult to change the way I feel in relation to the coronavirus. I'm sorry I'm just upset at the ones that left China, with undocumented symptoms and travelling knowing they were risking their own lives and others. Example is the Diamond Princess Cruise ship after one guy got sick now 175 including the quarantine officer got the virus. I felt the same for Ebola too. I have a weakened immune system due to Lupusand would be one of the "dead" if I contracted a virus even flu. ( I never get flu or cold) I don't want to unknowingly start becoming racist when it comes to this ordeal. I don't like racism period and am glad this post helped me to communicate this out with others who point this out. Anyhow I'm a 30 year Canadian, black female who recognizes her errors. But I also am tired of hearing racism issues. But it is part of today's reality, so I gotta live with it I guess. Be better. I'm trying everyday to be a better me. This is one issue I've had for over a decade especially towards my own race. This Coronavirus really had some thoughts and words come outta this mouth that shocked me. ✌🏾

They want to be able to get their answers in a safe space. There are a lot of black people who don't have time or the patience to teach white people essentially how to treat other races like human beings. I assume the white people are scared to ask the questions straight up because they don't have a lot of black or asian friends. I think this program will be like a psychological twelve step program. A potluck is not enough. Having a black friend is not enough.

My boss is a conservative Republican who is also white. I have had to correct him on A LOT of things. Racist is word that is thrown around too fast. Unfortunately, we all grow up with what our parents teach us. There is something called personal bias that is when we hold our own subjective world views that are influenced and shaped by our experiences, beliefs, values, education, family, friends, peers and others. My parents did not graduate even second grade so, it took me leaving to college to get cultured and less ignorant.

Mey when those teachings, affect how you see someone of a certain skin color it’s racism. Whether you know it or not, or mean it in that way. Racism is passed down through generations. The word isn’t “thrown around to fast” call it what it is and fix it. Not that deep.

What can be done is " School of CHoice" no mother should be arrested in America for using another address just to get their child into a better school. YOu can solve a lot of these problems through EDUCATION by supporting more funding to public schools so they can have quality education as rich. Most problems can be solved with education, I would tell these women who pay to help fight for quality education and programs for youth is how you help empower people of color so they can have more success and futures. Donating to youth programs, helping change policies that affect communities get rid of redlining when voting it's not really that hard to help out!!!
