The approach speed into the chicane in this video is more or less the same as in real-life since top speeds into the chicane are generally slightly below 300 anyway, so no riskier with a longer full-throttle stretch.

Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. I was going to say exactly what you have said; I remember reading an article a motoring magazine at the time which had a diagram of the new layout and said the introduction of your left turn at La Portier and the complete removal of the chicane after the tunnel "...will be happening in this year's Monaco GP...". I have often wondered why it was never introduced.

Honestly, I don't think it would lead to the wanted consequence, as the problem is currently not just the straight being too short, but also the chicane being too tight to try late braking without cutting it. The only solution for me is to do what the Dutch have done so good so far in their history: steal land from the sea, create a new, much larger chicane moved 50-70 meters deeper to guarantee side-by-sides

That would be a huge problem, I supose you mean to extend on the marina (meaning reducing it, first problem). plus that spot it is extemly deep, the center of the marina is more than 70 meters deep. (verry big thecnical chalenge).

Exactly. Formula e and F2 have shown you can have entertaining races there just with smaller cars (F2 spec series helps a bit, but fe does have internal differences)

Speed is also a factor that people like to ignore. Sometimes speed is an obstacle to overtake. This is also why FE or F2 do well there. Even in ovals, where you have a ton of slipstream, sometimes going too fast is bad.

Fia is too dumb to understand that simple fact, every regulation changes since like 2006 included cars getting more or less bigger than before, and every change, maybe expect the last one, made the racing less entertaining, cause bigger and cars mean less room for overtakes.

This is obviously not a fast lap at all, I figure with a properly set up track we could be looking at times closer to mid to late 1:30's

@@rt-uh6mt ground effects are good and the entire grid is closer than it was before, but yes the main thing that needs to happen is reduction of the overall size plain and simple. weight comes hand in hand with that but reducing the weight would also be a big benefit to overtaking

I mean, it's worth a try, bit narrow though. And there is no way the FIA don't put in a slow chicane before the tunnel. But simply, change the cars please, back to 1.8m wide, 4m long or let Formula E have Monaco, because these F1 cars don't work with any Monaco layout now.

Tbh, never really liked the 1.8m wide cars. Sticking to 2m is the cake for me. Then just reduce it down to 4m. Just like pre-1998.

The length of the cars is the issue cars were the same width through the 80’s and 90’s until 98 when they went narrower the current cars are now back to pre 98 width

And to elaborate on the cars being too long Martin Brundle explained that when you have a car 5 metres long to successfully make a clean pass you have to be so much later on the brakes than the car in front making Monaco even worse as it really only has one hard braking event to get it done shorter cars would mean you don’t have to brake so much later than the car in front to be clear when you hit the corner

​@@RoyMatzem it used to be 100 laps until Bernie Eccleston decided this should be the only race shorter to ensure TV coverage contracts. Lap time is not an issue, otherwise Spielberg and Monza would also be in trouble by that logic.

The biggest problem would be going into the tunnel, if a car got airborne. But basically every track has some form of bridge going over it, Singapore has part of a building over the track I think? IDK it’s up to the bipolar decision makers.

The straight after Mirabeau Bas would be a great passing zone. After the hairpin and the run back to Portier and the Tunnel looks like it would be single file or carnage. Whichever came first😹

An interesting concept. Would need to iron out a couple of the kinks on the new bit and widen it and remove the central reservation. I can imagine the safety at the nouvelle chicane would want beefing up too - but certainly worth exploring

The thing that immediately springs to mind is the speed through the tunnel. It’s already dangerous enough as it is but at that speed you’re not surviving a collision with the tunnel wall. Also the parked cars and planters marking out the track limits gave me anxiety. 😂

YES! Larvotto Boulevard is a great add to the circuit, I've been there more than once on holidays and I had the same though. You just need to add a chicane in the Portier roundabout for safety reasons, easily done. Bravo! In order to be perfect you should also add a left turn in Rascasse, the Fort Antoine Theater is a sick photoshoot and you would have a tight left corner inside of a tunnel. And the best of all, a sick start-finish straight line huge with DRS and really serious top speeds.

For a quick shallow left right flick? Its not a straight line from the tunnel exit to tabac, straight on goes uphill back towards sainte devote as shown in pre-gen 2 formula e races where they cut out half the track

I doubt. Yes, the full-throttle section into chicane would be longer, but with the track still narrow & the alternative section corners not much different overall & no DRS regardless, overtaking wouldn't necessarily become any easier.

if they took out the chicane after the tunnel entirely and put it like the older layout there might be an overtaking spot further down the road. However it's there for safety and removing it would probably end in someone getting killed or launched into the bay

What would make overtaking possible is going straight and not taking the chicane after the tunnel. There is an opening exactly where the post chicane curve is, if only that were changed, we would definitely have more overtaking in this race.

Wow, this is an absolutely brilliant idea. I had no idea it could be like this. But there is a very good space before the tunnel to put up a good DRS zone. Great video, very enlightening. The question now is: will Monaco be willing to make this change?

I think there could be a problem like we see in Baku, long straights doesn't mean overtakes now, because the tow now is lower. So you can only overtake if you do a parallel and take the good line. Long straight alone may not to be enough But maybe there is a place before the tunnel to make a wider chicane with some space to the walls so if you go wider, you won't crash. A turn with space for two cars and an overtake spot. It is the problem of the chicane after the tunnel. Very good for hotlaps but no space for 2 cars, and wall in the apex. So few space for the best place to overtake. The chicane near the final is good because it is a bad spot for overtakes, it is a zone for hotlaping. But if 2 cars are on parallel and reach the tunnel chicane, interior car will push the outside car offtrack and he keep position. Or maybe a fast chicane with walls so you have to do very fast to reach the final of the tunnel at higher speed. May be a solution, with enough straight to make important to exit fast. But again, current chicane in the tunnel is shit for overtake

Or making a huge braking zone between the 2 straights, similar to hockenheim. And with enough wide to have 2 cars in parallel. Or maybe with the exit of the apex curved. Better that a roundabout. They can destroy it and make flat surface. Something where you can put your car and make different lines. I don't know if I prefer a chicane with walls for qualifying or with asphalt Scape to have parallels

@@MisterLoLesp Monaco isn't Baku. Baku is basically on minimum wings, Monaco on maximum (although this addition might change it a bit), making DRS more effective in Monaco.

I think they should try it. And also, I would change the chicane after the tunnel so its kinda wider so drivers can take different lines.

They should just change regulations to make cars smaller. What is the point of changing regulations to improve racing, when every change includes cars getting bigger? If they were still around or under 5 meters long as in the V10 and V8 times, and not as wide, the rafing eiuld be better overall, as there would be far more space on every track. Also they shouldnt change regulations just because someone is dominant, or because of some teams struggling. They changed rules about clearance because of Mercedes struggling with porpoising in 2022. The result? More dirty air, worse racing. At least the midfield is way closer to each other than in years. Haas, Alpine, McLaren and Alfa Romeo, all these teams have pretty much simmilar cars when it comes to performerance, so at least there are some interesting battles.

That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI). Allah means the one and only God, the God of all prophets and creatures, the creator of the universe and mankind, and the Master of the Day of judgment, where our destiny, Hell or Paradise, is decided based on our faith and deeds in this trial life, and above all, Allah's mercy. Allah said in Surah Al-Ikhlas : In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful. Say, “He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. It also went around the wrong sides of the traffic islands at St Devote and La Rascasse. He used the pit exit lane at St Devote and cut across pit entry at La Rascasse

Oh, my gosh, road cars, motorbikes, pedestrians, furniture, plants and pillars all around! 😲 But I guess that extra section before the tunnel is a slight improvement on overtaking.

I love the idea of a Monaco track change, However I don’t think this layout works as the proposed DRS zones contain too many twists and turns and don’t provide much overtaking opportunity. I still think the only true solution would be to change the shape/location of the marina and when cars exit the tunnel, Instead of staying to the right the track angles slightly left, Which takes away the annoying left right left and is instead replaced by a hard braking zone into a right left chicane like turn 1 & 2 Monza This will provide a great overtaking opportunity and allow for cars to slow down again before entering the tight swimming pool section (for safety reasons) Residents at the marina won’t mind much, All they are doing is moving their yachts a few hundred feet and for doing this they get front row seats to the best (and only) overtaking spot in Monaco 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is the first "alternative" Monaco video that gets me excited. Looks fun and I can see this providing at least a little bit of racing. Other than that, impressive driving 👍

idk what it would do, but I'd love to see it. I saw a 60's Monaco GP recently, most of it looking the same, except for the last section coming out of the tunnel. I'm always curious about old versions of tracks. I'd like to see more of them in games. Like the old Sarthe with no chicanes, or an old Nordschliefe or Monza.

The problem is not the track, it's the current f1 car that's too big. Try watch the feeder series or Formula E, monaco is still an awesome track that capable to produce many overtakes.

I think the only two changes that could improve overtakes in Monaco are to make the Nouvelle (or port) chicane wider so drivers can go side by side and to put also a 2nd drs zone in the tunnel

Too bumpy and too big of a right hand kink through the tunnel, the cars would immediately lose rear grip and end in the wall. Maybe for the 2021 cars that had more aero, but not the current regs

Thank you for this! I was stuck in a Google Street View hole last week trying to figure out if something like this could work. I couldn't figure if there was enough room for a hairpin somewhere after you make the lefthander at Portier. Given the huge investment in the Mareterra development and the Grimaldi Forum I'm sure that having the cars zoom past it would mitigate any concerns about ruining the traditional nature of Monaco. Unless they shrink the cars this is maybe the only thing they could do to improve on track overtaking.

Looking at this it will need temporary chicanes because of the little runoff & looking at how wide the roads are, their probably main roads, which would cause more traffic if blocked.

That would make monoco a race instead of pole winning most of the time it would have alot more passing which would be cool cause it would be only in those straights most time then you gotta stay close to car ahead through tight part.

Try another one. It bear left at La Rascasse cafe, all the way up to the loop by the quay anthoine 1, entering the tunnel access la digue, onto a e de la quarantine, and hook a right alongside the Fangio statue to rejoin the track at Anthony Nogues.

You should do it without chicane and with enormous banking through the wall after it

Not a fan of it, I think it's a little twisty. But that's just my opinion, of course 😉. I don't know how feasible this is, but maybe you could try this next time : 1/Move the harbour chicane 200m further (from the current Nouvelle Chicane location), just like in the 1972 layout, and maybe add a DRS zone between it and the tunnel exit. 2/ Shortcut the second swimming pool Chicane and go straight into La Rascasse, driving over the pavement between the two. What do you think?

Their best bet would have been to take the left before Portier but go right onto where the new reclaimed land is with the new buildings. They should have built a deliberate overtaking section in accordance with the land developers and then have it loop back to where Portier is, turning left into the tunnel. With the size of these cars, the only way we're getting any overtaking is by building new sections into reclaimed land (perhaps the swimming pool section gets changed in future decades into the water with reclaimed lands).

I like it the way it is, just punish people for causing red flags in q3 and you're good to go.

If you just followed the roundabout at the start into tunnel that alone would make a big improvement.

Not sure if the layout would improve racing but the cars, bikes and other objects on track would make it more exciting to watch.

I doubt it. I think reverting to the old layout from the 60s for the long run from tabac to the hairpin and then back down the start finish straight would - especially if widened it all.

I think they would have to make adjustements on the part before the tunnel then to make it more straight but this shouldnt be a big problem

This definitely looks good but I have always thought if it was possible to get rid of the nouvelle chicane keep a long straight, get rid of those trees after the chicane in the middle of the road to widen the track?

That flick at 0:57 is most certainly fatal I mean the speeds going into that corner are genuinely terrifying

Ideally the drivers would have more room on the exit of the corner than in this video's demonstration, also it would be possible to put a very gentle kerb on top of the existing curb. An even better idea would be just make this a chicane, as this would create an excellent overtake zone with hard braking after a long straight (long for the standards of Monaco).

Not so much. In real contitions, of course they would remove all obstacles including cars, barriers, poles. They always trying to somehow increase the track width, even with scraping the sidewalks

For the change at 0:17 I dont think they would change that part of the track after the hillclimb because of the casino that looks straight at the course. They would pay F1 to keep the race right on their door.

I think that its good for overtaking and for much drs it feels like if your going to the tunnel you have 2 lon g straights before the tunnel

No it wouldn't as Av Princesse Grace is single lane in both directions with permanent concrete flower beds, exits and entries to the parking garage, and trees of course in the middle.

Should try it. Make corner at end if straight wide as possible and not too fast

It can be a solution by creating a chicane before the tunnel. This new part of the track would be wider so it can be postive

I was thinking that even just the addition of turning left before Portier and then right, going around the round about the wrong way would help - gives an extra 65m straight before the tunnel entrance ... and smooth out the Nouvelle Chicane

Fun idea to extend the track, but the only thing to bring back passing will be smaller cars (length and width). Maybe make a circuit specific car for the race.

I like how the fans can get closer to the action.

The problem that still remains is there's just not a spot wide enough for overtaking. I'm not sure how they fix that. Some sort of floating device in the harbor to make Nouvelle wider coming out of the tunnel?

IMHO 3 changes would help: The simpler one: left at Portier, then right into the roundabout returning. That would create a longer "straight", that theoretically could improve overtakes. It should then be coupled with a change on the Nouvelle Chicane, making it wider to allow for full send overtakes. The third change is way more controversial: remove the second swimming pool chicane, going straight to Rascasse. That would be a homage to the old circuit, where the braking into the Rascasse was a much better overtaking point than at St. Devote. This could allow for a high speed approach area, large enough for 2 cars to enter the Rascasse, blending into the small stretch before the last corner.

Maybe a little bit but the classic track layout is a big part of the attraction for fans and drivers. If we change it might as well just cancel the race and add a modern track.

Just use that first roundabout before the tunnel, and the tunnel straight would be long enough for overtake because slipstream is actually very strong in Monaco due to the high downforce setup.

The only thing that needs to change at Monaco is the Piscine area. Coming out of Tabac, get rid of the first chicane. Move the seats inside the track and create a straight leading to a left/right chicane, the exit right being the Rascasse.

hmmm the problem is that the tunnel and the chicane ahead had always been very dangerous, specially the chicane, that's why they don't have a DRS sector there (they tried on 2011 I believe). So I think it could be better to look to extend the 3rd sector and so the main straight, but I don't know if that is possible. Also the joker lap proposition some people have suggested is interesting too.

Honestly I doubt it would help too much. The new hairpin is still far too slow and tight to go 2-wide down, and all the chicanes would either need to be redone entirely to fit cars going down them side by side or made into proper chicanes, which would only reduce racing further. Neat concept, but I don't think there's any saving Monaco tbh. Seeing it converted into an actual track would be nice, but that's a lot more effort lol.

And a lot of moving people out of their homes, its already a very small place. The only reasonale option i personally can see is making F1 cars smaller again, the last few formula e races at full monaco have been great because they're narrower cars

In order to have to pass in places other than the straight, you have to have wide medium braking corners.

The simplest way to improve overtaking in Monaco would be to reduce the maximum width of F1 cars from 2000mm to 1500mm. The simplest track changes would be to remove the present position of the Nouvelle chicane, take out the scrubby row of trees that divide and separate the FJK Avenue from the waterfront and re-situate the Nouvelle Chicane just in front of Tabac: that was the run through the tunnel and down the hill would be extended by 200M, with the last 200M becoming a very wide Boulevarde leading into the chicane’s braking zone - & ideal for overtaking.
