One player has one chance to hit a serve into a designated area that the offender chooses. That area will be placed inside the service box the server designates. The size and shape of the “landing zone” will be uniform and can be placed anywhere within the service box. The no-volley service line rule will be in play. DougB

Sounds like the substance could be rosin, the hard blocks of pine resin that are used on stringed instruments. It causes the bow’s hair to more vigorously grasp the strings, therefore elevating the amplitude. With the efficiency gains in paddle design it just seems silly to alter the paddle face when they’re already crazy good.

Agreed. Maybe warning for 1st wrong call then get penalized for every addition. Maybe automatic loss of match if a player/team miss calls 3x in a match.

As far as the color of warning cards go, I think they should use yellow and red. Soccer is a worldwide sport. Why, because all you need is a ball to get started. Cheap enough for everyone and really only one of your chums needs to have one. Pickleball is the same way. It has a low cost entry point. Align the colors of the cards with football aka soccer. They would be automatically recognized on a global scale. DougB

How is it different from putting lead tape to increase the power and sweat spot, 2 of the most important playing characteristics of a paddle? Why is that legal? Food for thought.

Using lead tape is different from using pine tar. Pine tar applied to the hitting surface of the paddle making the paddle surface tacky. Adding lead tape on the exterior edge of the paddle is different because the lead tape is not coming into contact with the ball. Why not add a tacky surface like all the other brands. Proton went in a different direction making their paddle inferior from a surface stand point.
