    The only thing that makes the X1 suck that I can’t get over is how minimal they made it, which is such a huge inconvenience for me as I still have a set top box, so the absence of the number pad and both the record and stop button on the X1 makes it actually quite a downgrade for me compared to the U2. But I still really want the features like the hub, charging, increased devices and the activities feature, so it’s really damn conflicting. Sofabaton should do better.

    Yes they really should have hired a human interface designer for this project. It's clear that no one at SofaBaton actually has any clue about how to design a good universal remote, which is unfortunate. Having multiple hard buttons is always better and then there is the back button on top as far away as possible from where your fingers are placed? Wasted potential.

    @@KristjanB Actually all they had to do was Bing, Control 4 or Logitech universal remote, for ideas on layout. No need for an interface designer.

    The reason that your regular USB C to USB C cord doesnt work is that many devices (this one included) save money by not having the hardware required to tell the USB C cord how much voltage to pull. This means that for devices like this, you will need a USB A to USB C cord. The USB C to USB A cord doesnt require this hardware because the voltage a USB A cord can draw is automatically lower and thus doesn't need dedicated hardware to determine the proper voltage. I have a bunch of devices in my home that require this cord and it is a real pain. So much for living an all USB C life.

    Once all the work is put into configuring the X1, how is that config backed up (and, if necessary due to hardware failure, restored to another X1)?

    X1 is a huge disappointment compared to the Logitech Harmony remotes, no charging dock, back button position is in such a poor position I regularly drop the remote, macro’s are a bit hit and miss for my Optoma projector, and the interface is just wrong in so many ways, mine has gone back in the drawer, and the Harmony Elite is back in action, I know we all need something ready for when the Logitech’s are completely phased out, but unfortunately the X1 just isn’t it.

    Can't use a remote with so many buttons missing, and yet another device to charge by USB... What a shame. Is there really no AV input button?

    One thing that annoys me about the U2 is that there is no Guide button, this is an absolute must in 2023 surely and every single universal remote I have owned in the past 20 years has had one. Yes I can add it by manually programming the U2 using an existing remote but in this day and age I shouldn't have to.

    Sorry, I really could have worded it better, they are different in that the U2 needs a button to replace the current function whereas the X1 adds to it as a separate function.

    what exactly is the difference between macros on U2 and activities on X1?

  • @MainCave

    @MainCave

    5 ай бұрын

    Hi there They are very similar but Macros are a set instructions of button presses (I believe up to 10). For example. Power Button TV followed by Power Button Soundbar. Whereas Activites you are telling your system what you want to do “turn on tv and soundbar” The way this is different is that activities will get the job done like turn on the tv to a certain source no matter what’s source currently on. Macros just hit the buttons in the order you set and so may not execute it correctly as it will “change source 5 times”. Is that clear? Probably not lol
