I agree with you on the Haus Labs foundation, I tried so many primer/setting spray combinations to make it work. The only one that sort of helped it was the MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Spray.

I didn't have the exact same experience, I got a sample of the Haus Labs and it was just...okay. It made me really glad I got a sample because I was extremely close to buying into the hype for something that just performed okay on my skin.

Omg I thought I was I only only who is not into that barbie pick cheek with my warm undertone 🎉 I feel everyone loves every shade of pink it seems except the very few. I love such a orangey peachy shade it looks more natural on me❤

I will say, as a black woman with a lot of 3c thick curly hair, that heat and power in the shark flex style is excellent. I would not recommend it for people with fine hair for the reasons you explained.

This is the first comment in support of the shark that I actually like and agree with. I could see the /extreme/ power being good for those of us lucky enough to have REALLY thick and full hair 🤣 I am not one of the lucky ones.

Perfume is interesting with body chemistry. I find the opposite with Tom Ford fragrances- they don't last on me which is a shame because they smell beautiful! 😢 LOVE your wintery look 😍

I think the last thing I took back that was super hyped was from Pat McGrath and those divine blushes. I bought nymphette. All I heard about was how glowy and nice they are but when I went outside and looked in the mirror in the sun. My face was full of blush glitter, and it was everywhere I’m like oh heck, no. I do not like glitter in my blush. I don’t care how finely milled it is give me the sheen or glow without the glitter any day.

Mal I think you should try the TF soleil highlight, it’s really nice! I got both the TF and ABH highlighters and I’m just like you as far as taste & skin type. I’m returning the ABH and keeping TF. Get it when that next coupon hits during Black Friday (around that time).❄️

Knowing what you really dislike is really just as valuable as what you like. 🥰 Haus Labs looks atrocious on me as well, maybe it’s having finicky dry skin or being just overly critical but when you know what amazing base products look like your less willing to settle for mediocre. My experience/opinion with Tom Ford ( particularly baked gelee formulas) they are always worth it, that baked gelee is just second to none. I’ve always had been disappointed or ended up spending more $$ when trying to “dupe the vibe” or buy an alternative. The Dior highlighters don’t seem like they all have the same formula, I had the same issue with glitz …visible shimmer where the other had zero ….so strange. I honestly don’t see REM beauty around for very long, they just have shit products. Nothing is even decent let alone good, just screams cash grab …no passion project. I really Hope you get feeling better, you’re always so cheerful and positive it’s easy to forget you’re dealing with so much.❤❤

I enjoy her 4 pan palette highlighters and so was looking forwards towards getting this yrs release.....until the reviews are coming out with heaps of mehs. The abh lipstick packs and lip liners packs I already bought > love the formulas and the colours. ❤

i wanted to love the haus labs foundation! So many people love it. It made me look aged and rough. Like My skin was oddly textured and emphasized all the stuff I really just wanted to blur. And I don't even think I have that much to hide away!!! So ODD! I also have dry skin. I don't know whats going on there. I seem to do great with Fenty eaze drop and the laura mercier real flawless foundation looks good too.

I like Herbivore’s blue tansy face mask with its herbal/floral smell (can’t stomach spending $180 on May Lindstrom’s Blue Cocoon solid face oil) and thought that I’d buy to try Kate McLeod’s solid facial oil with Tamanu + Blue Tansy during the Rouge sale. It comes wrapped up in a little muslin shroud inside a glass jar. I unscrewed the lid only and was like “Help me 8 lb. 5 oz baby Jesus!” 🧼♨️👃🏻😵‍💫🙏🏻👼🏼 The smell just reeked like super strong fennel seed which I can’t stand the taste of in Italian sausage. I'm sad there's no good highlighting palette from Dior with yellow undertones, I love mine (004 Rose Gold), have a look at it, I findit is way more golden than pink 😉

The Dior Universal palette only has 1 pink shade. You might still be underwhelmed though.

@@alice_rabbit8345 I hope so. Meat is “recycled” even after expiry date in some unethical outlets so I wouldn’t be surprised if the same happened in some cases with regard to second hand skin care/beauty products .

Ps the chemo will mess with your skin for sure - it totally required me to change my whole skin routine (even post).

I love hearing that you actually returned things. Trying new mankeup brings me great joy, but I don't feel bad returning things I don't love. So many creators put the vibe out that returning things is wasteful and bad. That's part of the benefit of shopping somewhere like Sephora or Ulta to me. I personally only want things in my collection that I enjoy using!

That's the same way I do things too, I only want things in my collection that I enjoy using. If I keep something I don't like then it just takes up space and distracts me from using the things I actually enjoy. Plus, the cost of returns is built into the prices we pay for these products, so it's definitely a benefit that we're already paying for.

Creators purchasing things just to review (monetized) and then return is different than a consumer. That's why some creators are against it, bc they feel that is what their channel is for. I don't think anyone discourages consumers from returning. Personally I agree about creators if the product is not broken, defective or bad quality (i.e. someone just doesn't like it).

I do think it is unethical to purchase for review and return. That is different from returning items that don't live up to their claims. I don't return color palettes I end up not liking the colors of, I return coverage products that do not work for my skin, or products that otherwise fail to live up to their advertised benefits. As a business, I have to eat the costs of bad videos just like other businesses have to eat the costs of bad products. I didn't return the shark because it the review was over, I returned it because I think it is a terrible tool. And with over 100% profit margins built in to most of these items, it is literally built into the cost already. Many of the items I review are mid-end to luxury items, if I owned a mazda then bought a mazaratti and realized it was the same or worse quality than the mazda you better believe i'd be returning it, and would not be recommending it to you.

The Haus labs looked terrible on my normal to dry skin!! It settled and looked horrible! I much prefer the LM Real Flawless & Danessa Yummy Skin tint. ❤❤❤

Thank you for saying that about the Haus Lab Foundation. Honestly, I JUST noticed it didn’t sit well on my face last week. My Husband was driving and I looked at myself in the car mirror, Whoa, not good! Is Mac your favorite everyday foundation?

I think what you’re asking about was when I was talking about my dry skin being super extra dry right now because of the low dose chemo therapy drugs I’m currently on to mitigate my disorder.

I watched the Shark video after I had purchased and wasn’t going to open it but then watched a few promising reviews so I opened it and wow I should have listened you! The sound was hideous to me. I can’t imagine that it is healthy to have that sound so close to your ears. It’s going back which I feel is such a waste. I am considering a re-conditioned Dyson.

It is absolutely a terrible tool, and that has to damage our ears over time! I know people that love their reconditioned dyson, and if I had known that were an option when I bought mine, I wouldve totally gone for that option!

I follow the podcast “beautiful and bothered” they said and I think I agree but many people don’t shake it enough and when they start pumping the ingredients aren’t mixed well so you may start with the dryer bits when you pump and then hydrating is all at the bottom from settling. I’ve never seen a Sephora employee shake the foundation before skin matching me and it so annoying. But it could also not be for you which I respect lol. I have it and some days it looks good some I think I didn’t shake enough

We all have a right to our opinion. Most of what you are trying to deinfluence me from buying are my favs. Love Haus Labs foundation! Love the Dior highlighter! Not a fan of people, especially those who make money from trying products for their audience, returning items. Just my opinion, of course.

Iv tried my Haus labs samples 4 times so far in 4 different ways n every time it looks like a cakey mess n I wind up taking it off!

I also have a dyson and as a hairstylist I’d never recommend anyone paying $500 for it! My curls don’t last and it takes me longer to do my hair! Even if the curls stayed no way would I tell anyone to pay that for it!!!! Ridiculous! Way too many good tools out there these days to pay that I won mine if I wouldn’t have it would have went back!

Haus labs foundation was also a bust for me. Same issues and I was very “moisturized” 😂. I prefer nars light reflecting and hourglass skin tint. Would love to see you review Chantecaille future skin, it’s pricey but really good.

Oh me too! There do single shadows SO well!!! But paying $48 for the dior palette vs $4, there should be a visible difference is all I was saying.

The Haus Labs didn’t work for me either. I bought the sample set from their website and tried it several ways. It looked terrible on my dry, mature skin. Dior Face and Body is my go to.

Let's just use COMMON SENSE people! Will you use it? Do you even need it? Can you afford it? Be thankful & use what YOU have ✌🏾😉

I’m not sure if this is a rude comment or not😂 But my job is to review products, and teach people about makeup and hair. I’ve never promoted overconsumption, but everyone has a right to return products they dislike when they’ve paid their hard earned money for something that isn’t worth it. It is also my job to be transparent about what IS worth it so everyone who watches me has some help navigating the tons of products that are being peddled to us.

I hated the Haus Labs foundation on me. It sat on top of my skin and made it look simultaneously textured, dried out and shiny. How? I don't know, but it was an impressive feat. I found it to be very heavy and cakey even when applied with a wet sponge. It's a mystery because so many people swear by it, but I guess not everything is for everyone.

And no to Hourglass; they dragged their feet to inclusivity - what's that about...😕🙍🏾‍♀️
