Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Rare 1955 Vw Beetle revival or 4 full restoration? Some say keep the patina ride and some say full build / full restoration. Should it be restored?

@@vwcoco hey bud! Things are good. Opened my own shop finally, my friend and I are trying our handle at the KZread stuff again. How’s things over there?
Laying on the roof and poking at it with a stick technique was my favorite. This girl really didn’t wanna let it go. Wow.
I don’t know what the record is, but I had a 70 Beetle back in the early 80s and I removed the engine so many times that I could get it out in less than an hour with a couple of jack stands and a jack. Keep up the great efforts.
Mad respect for your determination and hard work! Been watching and learning from you for many years. After this you deserve a beer or two!

Congratulations Jay you have done it. The world record is all your man. I am so proud of you. I felt your pain and I clapped when you finished your struggle. If they gave out medal s ,you would get the gold.
I would have been cussing up a storm after the first half hour. Your patience was rewarded. Loved "now I am officially pissed off"
Brother, that was one of the most frustrating videos I ever watched. I was so glad to see that engine finally drop. Back in the day I used to help a friend work on VW's as well as my own. I'm proud of you because I would have been using so many "4 letter" words the camera would have had to have been stopped. I'm sure you used them but we didn't hear them. Great job my man.
One the only things I watch on TV are your videos! Your knowledge of VWs and different features of each year is amazing. Keep up the videos!
I love the look of this car I wish they still made them like this. I’m glad to see you trying to put another one back on the road.

Great video! I appreciate the realness of it. Not everything comes easy and this is very relatable. You have much to be said about your determination to keep going. Keep up the great work!
In the words of the great, classic movie Galaxy Quest: "Never give up, never surrender!"
Great video, I loved it. Your persistence and dedication to the task is second to none 5150, I really admire both of those qualities in you. Nothing will defeat you. The best line was …” it’s not all in the Bentley”, I lost it on that one. Great work and it looks like a killer car, looking forward to seeing more.
Love this channel even when it's not easy you never give up 😁😁😁😁👍👍👍

As hard as that engine was to remove that looks to be a relatively very clean body! Also shout out to Dub on his masterful timing and plug wire placement!

@@5150mxVW LOL good times.
The whole time I kept thinking...man don't scratch the paint. This is what I would call perseverance and not ever giving up.
Feels so good to see I am not the only one that is struggling from time to time. These old cars that have been sitting can really get your blood cooking. Good to see you don't give up easily
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
Never worked on VW's only older American cars from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. However I know the frustration. My cousin always said the bigger the job the bigger the hammer.
Dang, that's commitment right there haha. Looking forward to seeing this project come along.
My first car was a ten year old ‘59 convertible, it still had an oval window. My 3rd was a ‘59 panel van with the small rectangular rear window. The little windows are just cool.

Nice ! the pre 58 convertibles had an even smaller rear window than your 59'....
Wow!!!! That was a battle! Great video and showing a stubborn one! Gotta love north east cars
Persistence class is in session! I have never experienced a drop this hard. Can't wait to hear about the updates!
Exact same thing happened with our ‘68. Car had been sitting for 20+ yrs. Spent 3 days trying to get out. Engine seized, would not turn. Ended up pulling starter and sprayed 2 cans of pb blaster onto the flywheel/clutch/slave. Came back the next day, rocked it around and it came out. Crazy amounts of corrosion on the flywheel/trans case. Cleaned up flywheel, removed clutch, reinstalled and it fired right up! Good luck!
Jay, I’m inspired! Total commitment🤙
Iam going to watch you again and again I love your persistence keep them videos coming son 👍👍
My son is rebuilding a 57 rag top. He has a new big motor for it and has changed it 12 volt. It's going to perform like a hotrod but look old with all new paint, chrome, interior, and a chosen color of his liking. It will be beautiful.
Your best work ever! I loved this video.

Wow, what a fight. Your perseverance paid off!

I commend your persistence Jason well done. That engine was a stubborn bar steward.
You've taught me how hard a beetle engine drop is. Thank you.!

haha, well they are usually very easy when not seized
Well Done Jason, If it's any consolation, same as yourself I've fitted / removed many VW engines over the years - I just had a similar problem putting a 36HP Engine into my 58' it had been engine less and off the road since 1979 and the freshly rebuilt 36HP Just would not go in at all - several hours later and after a lot of persuasion and swearing it finally went in! Keep up the great Videos!!
I watched you struggle to get the engine out. I congratulate you for you determination and perseverance. The body is a little crusty but when you are done, it will be a beautiful Bug. I would love to see a full restoration, but you make the decision.
You know what would be funnier? If all that beating, pulling and moving freed up the stuck engine! 😂😂😂😂 Cheers from Argentina, man!!
I appreciate your tenacity. I agree it’s a beautiful car
Ok now we want an engine tear down video!
Brown locktite ,plenty of it here in the midwest.been there bro ,lol had my share of rust intake from working on all the jewels I dragged home .love to see her brought back to life and your just the nut to do it !

That looked beyond Stressful! I was feeling your pain 😦
Really enjoyed this video, I laughed, you had me pulling and pushing that engine with ya……lol….
My wife seriously just asked what sport I was watching because of my vocal frustration. I explained it wasn’t frustration, it was empathy. I think I would have cut the studs long before you did. The Captain Caveman reference was awesome!

You always get there in the end. That was one son of a beep. 👍👍👍👍
How you haven't received 100% thumbs up just for the effort boggles my mind. What a struggle! a set of "jaws of life" would have come in very handy to pry that engine from the transmission. Glad you won the battle. Hopefully the rest of the restoration goes a bit smoother

Epic struggle my friend. I'm hoping your back, etc didn't pay too big a price. When you had that 3 ft prybar in there earlier pointing vertical I was shouting to extend it with a longer cheater.....anything to save your back. Good work !!! In future please save your back. If you had that heart emoji I (and others) would send you a well earned pittance. We're not into long term promises I think.. The best to you.

Kudos to you on finally getting it out. Also for little or no profanity while doing it( you're a better man than me). Mechanical things at times, seem to be set on being frustrating. Although, I know in my heart, it is just a piece of metal with no agenda. I have found prayer quite helpful in these moments.
i wonder if one of those porta powers would have worked with the expanding jaws ... i think its called a duck bill ... any way if your back hurt before ... it must be really thanking you now ...lol great vid !!!

My back hurts from just watching the video, I feel for you
I just pulled the motor in my 73 today and it fought me not as bad as that one though
I felt the pain of all that pulling in my joints and lower back in California.
Jump House action, Chain Gang sounds, My new medication causes me to be "calm and relaxed" as well Jason 😅🤣😂, awe c'mon Jason, buddy, pal, friend.....I was just kidding..., use of Really Large Crack Pipes, Pro Wrestling, Acupuncture, wrenched backs, nearly torn rotator cuffs, more tugging and pulling than movies I have seen 😵💫 , and the Me hitting the "That Was Easy" button at the end of "Extrication of the Engine", the movie, also known as "Ground Hog Day' 😁. Who could ask for anything more, hehehehe. Thanks for the great video Jason. John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee. Take care......
I have pulled several old VW engines, and it always takes me twice as long as it should. But I like to go slow and methodical in the process. Got to admit I have never, had an engine that stubborn to come out. I sure would have been cursing and a hot temper would start flare up. I would have, had to walk a way, to cool off for a few. Or start Drinking😁 The older bugs are very cool, I love the rear deck lid as well. That nice W on the lid ( what's not to like) Thanks for the video.
You needed the Jaws of Life to free the motor from the trans. 🤪
Lovely rusty beetle!!

I'm at the 16:00 mark. My suggestion is to raise the lift to it's highest, so when the engine (I call-em motors) does fall out (giggle), it makes one hellava splat.
It's also really easy to take the swing axle out with just removing a few other bolts.
LOVE the body patina!

i had exact same problem on a 68 beetle .but it had no back on it some one chopped it into a dune buggy. my tranny spline was seized to the clutch plate. so i put a strap around the header exhaust and the other end to my truck . two yanks and out it come . didnt wreck a thing
When you go for something you get it done! Great job on perseverance!

I bought a 1600 sp, It was on an irs transaxle, just the back half of the pan sitting there, in a garage for 40 years. Should have been a 3 min unbolt and load into my truck. One of the bottom studs had bad bimetal corrosion, we fought with it for an hour, getting about a 2mm gap between the case and transaxle. Out came the sawzall. I've pulled a lot of VW engines, that was the first time I had encountered that. First 2/3 of your video I kept thinking, just cut the studs, ha ha.
@5150mxVW
Жыл бұрын
well I'm sorry to say it but that is GREAT to hear . It took me forever just to get that gap for the sawzall ....not to mention your brain is like I shouldn't need a sawzall for this 3 minute wiggle and drop haha.....

Jason, You should've done a collab with Mustie1 on this one; it woyld be a runner now. Maybe, you should give it to Mustie for a autopsy episode????
I`m no expert but I love the look of car now but is it good for the future of the body? Will it get bad rust? If so I would definitely do a major restoration on a car this valuable.
