The infectious disease that is in the video game industry is now in the vehicle industry. "Send it out now, fix later". It should be illegal to send out an unfinished product. If the transmission is hot garbage, it should be illegal to charge for it or have it in the list price. If the computer systems are not working as intended a credit should be given to the consumer. Otherwise, when does this nonsense end?

The recall was for EVERY SINGLE TRUCK MANUFACTURED. And their ‘solution’ was to Pop rivet the pedal in place. The truth is, a trim piece that they knew full well would be subjected to shear forces from the driver’s rubber soled shoes had a tapered fit for ease of assembly, but had NO snap catch to keep it in place once on and to give the assembly worker a positive tactile indication that it was fully seated. Their ‘fix’ for what is a bush league oversight in parts design, is to put a rivet that will literally have to be drilled out if they ever need to service the accelerator or car interior in a way that requires removing the footwell panels. A bozo mistake, and doofus fix.

How can you have a "carwash mode" and then have a disclaimer against damage caused by a functional carwash? Having a "carwash mode" is an implicit confirmation that one can safely use a functional carwash. Why would the mode exist if one was not supposed to ever use it? Our super-tough machismo-machine is too delicate to withstand the rigours of a carwash? When a humble Fiat Uno could? Sheesh.

Who changed the meaning of beta tester? A beta tester ALWAYS get paid with the free production release of the product, to compensate for the many hours and often financial losses that they put into the beta testing. Then from beta testing, you have a "release candidate" which is sent to a smaller number of gamma testers, who are supposed to beat the last bugs out of the product before it goes to production. AND ALL OF THESE TESTERS GET THE FINISHED PRODUCT FOR FREE. People who buy the product are called "valued customers" or "suckers" but never beta testers.

Also, just because tesla has a track record of using PAYING customers as beta testers for their barely functional products, does not make it okay, idk man, I'd rather buy anything else that's either a)cheaper b)more reliable c)all of the above

People need to look at old technology for solutions. I bought a 1977 Ford LTD, a beautiful car with about 30,000 miles for only $11,000. I'm not in debt, and I do not have any problems with it. Ford back then in the owners manual offered to sell a tool kit with all the tools to repair it including a repair manual so I can repair it myself and save money. Today's cars are anti repair where the design, including the engine is made in such a way that one has to take half the car apart just to get to the one part they need to. And some of those components or parts are so cheaply built that they will break right in your hands, even if you do everything right. So why even bother with a new car as they are just nothing more than way overpriced ugly clumps of disposable junk? Who needs all these problems and the BS that comes with them?

That said, Tesla's infatuation with doing everything electronically gave me no way to respond to them that I want to wait. Local Tesla center says they have nothing to do with it and no way to contact Tesla in this regard. This is nuts. The app has always tried one's patience, but this is over the top. I can't do anything when signing on to my account since it says use the app. Gee, I've only been a customer for 11 years now. The truth of the matter though 1:11 was Tesla recalled every Cybertruck that had been manufactured, and the 4k number is about 4% of what Tesla is telling TSLA owners they'll be able to manufacture in a year.

Best part about the armor glass is how glass breakers used to save you from your car in an accident like when you slide off into a river because to tried to offroad it don’t work on it, so it’s much harder for you to be rescued as you slowly (or actually quite quickly) sink into the briny depths. Brilliant. You are entombed in your vanity box but hey it’s marginally more difficult for the fish to get at your body. Perfect concept no notes.

Something this different was bound to have more to iron out than the average “new” vehicle. Tesla could have done more testing and fixed more of these issues than they did. Even still, if people have the $ to be early adopters and deal with the extra up front risk for issues, power to them. It would be fun to be one of the first owners. If thats worth it to some, great. Their choice. I’ll still get one, but I’m not crazy rich. I feel happy with the fact that my turn will likely come up in another year when the issues have had a chance to be refined. I can pay a more normal price, and not be in a "beta tester" position.

  • @gloredon

So what's holding me off from buying a Cybertruck (It's been available for configuration for months, I am a first night reservation holder)? 1. The 20k upcharge for Foundation Series is not just 20k, it's 27.5K, because it also tosses you out of any chance to get the Federal Tac Credit as well. 2. I don't want FSD on the truck, I have it on my Model 3 and literally never use it (I might someday, but this is not that day). 3. Horrible towing range, and lack of pull through charging infrastructure. 4. I don't have a Powerwall (but I do have Tesla solar) so the V2G components in the Foundation series are also not anywhere on my list of needs. I want one for three purposes: 1. A cheaper daily driver than my 6,000lb+ rockcrawler jeep 2. A tow vehicle to efficiently tow my hot rod to both farther local car shows, and ones several states away 3. A replacement for the jeep for mild to mid-range trails (I can give up the hard-core stuff at this point) and (bonus) 4. Bringing home lumber, appliances, etc. from Home Depot and Lowe's without having to rent a truck to do so. So far, with the currently available offerings for order (to me), the CT fulfills 1 and 3, but only half of 2. Getting a big diesel tow rig could fulfill the other half of that, but then 1 and 3 are wiped out by that rig. It just isn't the multitool I had hoped it would be. Really, nothing is (Maybe a Rivian). Just stop selling the Foundation series models already, Tesla. They're getting pretty diluted at this point. It is just a greed move at this point.

The number of times Ryan had to say, "but that's normal for my first Model Y" is some serious cope. Here's a big difference between the CT and the MY, the CT is essentially a fashion purchase. It's not good at doing truck things and people who NEED a truck won't buy it. The only people who will buy it will be people who want to be seen in it. After you see a bunch on the road all looking exactly the same, the fashion buyer is not going to be interested.
