Honestly, back in the day I was playing with cards like the s3 virge and matrox mystique 220 which were slow and also lacked features so the games didn't look correct. A card that's just slow but does correctly run the games would be acceptable on a budget.

@@primus711 yes but also no, its slightly more complicated: they are glorified PCI cards, yes. but.. AGP exists to take the video off the shared PCI bus which if you have many PCI cards it can destroy video performance by sharing bandwidth with the rest of the crap hanging off those slots. that is really the only reason AGP exists. AGP only got better in pro/4x/8x revisions but 8x was never fully implemented to its full potential as PCIE came and kicked its shit in because.. well.. glorified PCI. AGP was basically a dedicated pipeline and nothing more.

For example, nor s3 virge/dx nor trio64v2/dx just can`t show textures in HL1, so i can`t say that sis 6326 is bad at all card. I think it was not too bad choice at that time it was produced

I'm actually still using my Diamond Speedstar A50 in my Win98se 3DFX retro machine. From what I understand, this is the fastest SiS 6326 card due to its faster memory speed. I've had better AGP cards paired up with my 12mb Voodoo2 SLI, but this was/is the most used. I remember I paid $59.95 for it at a local computer store in Stamford, CT in the late '90s. This was far cheaper than some of the other AGP cards out at the time. Not sure how it happened, but it just soldiered on as my primary 2D card for years until I retired it and my V2 SLI, only to resurrect both a few years ago.

Had one in the late 90s lent to me by the repair store while my Millennium II 8 MB was away for repairs. Not very fast, but at least it worked without graphical glitches. That can´t be said for most of the competition that you showcased in the other videos. ^^ Had it for almost half a year because Matrox displaced my Millennium II during the repair/RMA process. It arrived after that time but I became tired in the meantime and purchased a Riva TNT. I actually like the image quality better compared to 3dfx. The Voodoo footage in your videos looks always a bit bled out and pale.

Yea, I had a card with this chip on it back in the day. I was in highschool at this time and back then we didn't know/care about FPS. Back then we just wanted something that would play Duke3D or get windows 95 to be stable enough to run for an hour or two. When more graphics demanding games started coming out we spent more and more time trying to forcefeed whatever graphics card to run these games until finally we would hop in the car and run over to bestbuy for whatever was cheap. Goodtimes, really brought everyone together back then, before the (cable)internet showed up.

I had one of those cards, it was a SIS 6326 AGP with 4MB VRAM on an orange PCB. The drivers were horror-trash, textures had weird lines in them, the video out via SCA was trash and later I swapped it for a Voodoo 3 that was like... worlds better, many worlds! As far as I can remember, enabling 3D acceleration wasn't really any faster than playing in software renderer. Though given I only had a Pentium II 233 at that time...

It never managed to make the card get beyond a crappy 512x384 ok-ish framerate / resolution relation, but it was the most overclockable piece of hardware I ever had when comparing its stock clock (60Mhz if I remember correctly) to how far it could get (around 200Mhz). I played a lot of Midtown madness using this card, and even managed to get "some" OpenGL compatibility using a leaked driver (called "high angle"). I used to dream of having a Voodoo xD. I dont want to bust your illusion, but 200 MHz is not realistic with this card. During 1998-1999, no card could reach such clock, both on core, and memory. First cards, that could be overclocked to 200 Mhz, was from Geforce 2 generations. It was in middle 2000. The best cards, could be overclocked to 200 Mhz. The only scenario, how could you reach those memory speeds, is, thast you had very late version, released in 2001 or later. And they've used SDR memory with 6 ns timings. These memory in some cases are overclockable to 200 Mhz.

Let me guess, you would prefer a S3 Trio 3D 2x with 4 or 8Mb without any difference? That for sure is one the worst cards ever produced and far bellow the SIS 6326. SIS did a great job for it's time, just by providing onboard IGPs better than some cards available specially from S3. You really don't know what you are dealing with.

S3 Trio3D 2X is just updated Virge GX2. And Virge GX2 is slightly updated Virge DX core... basically with SDRAM and SGRAM support... which was released as Virge GX before. But in 3D, it's same powerful as Virge DX, with slighty boost in megaherz. You are comparing 1996 technology with late 1997 , of course SIS wins in this case. Competitor to S3 Trio3D 2X is Rage IIc AGP.

This SIS card tried to compete with Riva 128 64-bit version (original was 128-bit), Ati Rage Pro EDO version, and first versions Matrox Mystique (so not Mystique 220)

@@warrax111 S3 Virge GX2 was far better than S3 Trio 3D 2X. You can't play games like Star Wars Rogue Squadron 3D, Slave Zero amoung others on a S3 Trio 3D 2X, Star Wars The Phantom Menace playability is just horrible with graphical issues and black squares here and there. But you can play all these games on a S3 Virge GX2 and in all SIS graphics cards as long as they have 3D acceleration.
