Worship Band Workshop - Choosing Your Team | Paul Baloche

Музыка

Don't be in a hurry to fill up the stage or platform. How do you prayerfully add musicians and singers?
How to become more sensitive to the new people who arrive at your church and how to get to know them. What should you do before asking them to be part of the team? How to find people who are qualified, musically and spiritually.
How should you adjust your playing as you add more players and singers. Jared Anderson adds some strong insights on leading solo versus leading with a band. How to add a drummer for the first time. Carl Albrecht and Michael Rossback, Paul’s drummer and bass player, will give you their perspectives on how they think about serving the song and give space to each other. Through this video you will see and hear how adding new players changes the sound and the space given to each other. Listen to those differences as you watch this video.

Drummers are my Achilles heel. As a veteran bassist, they have the power to make or break a band. They don’t realize how distracting they are when they aren’t grasping the pocket. It should be standard to study Don Moen’s drummer Tim- he’s what drummers should be aspiring to.

It’s interesting listening to your take on drummers. I have my self played drums on many albums and many styles probably 40 years. I’ve been a Christian for four years and the whole concept of the worship band was new ground to me. I really like they way church drummers go for the feel.... pulling on the groove adding emotion and After four years I have offered to serve because I can dig that and as a professional emotion is where it starts what that it’s just beats

There was a time when I was asked to be part of a worship experience at a church. I sang and played guitar. There were two backup singers and a flute player. We practiced for a week to get the songs down and get used to each other. Day of the service we showed up at the church and the sound man had a teen son who played drums. He wanted us to add his son and I had to say no to his request because he hadn't practiced the songs the way we were going to do them. It was fine without drums. It had the possibility of being disasterous though. Sometimes you have to make the hard calls as a leader.

If you have a strong bassist, you’re better off without a poor drummer, trust me

I said "was" because our guitar player is in another country and many signs says, that he may stay there.

I find that ppl on our team are not as serious as they should be, being perfect is a ridiculous idea, but being your best should be a must for God...let's worship not show...
