I bought my 22 M340i in March specifically for the buttons, hvac, and perfect blend of touch and buttons. I had a Mercedes and when they went full touch and saw hints that 2023 BMWs were going touch and big mouth grills; the decision was made. The pre-LCI G20s are the Goldilocks. Just right

It's just so wholesome and amazing that you got SXM to sponsor you. I've been watching y'all from the very first viral video (android auto vs apple car play) and to have a brand that you've loved for so long to sponsor you must be the best feeling. It's been great to see you grow. :) Love you guys!
That big screen looks like an afterthought. It doesnt suit the rest of the interior, which is basically the old one, which they took a hacksaw to, to fit the screen. Also this is BMW, they should have a screen concept, like Porsche did with the Taycan, which still reminds of the typical instrument cluster, even if it is a screen. BMW should keep it sporty like that.
By the way, it was your video with Timo that pushed me towards favouring the M340 while testing cars back then... best car I've ever owned so thanks for that!

2020 M340i xdrive owner here. I leased mine during the pandemic so i could only buy off the lot. For that reason I don’t have the mag dampers which i think was a rare option. I think the ride is great, the run flat tires are the stiffest part about it. With non run flats i think the ride would be perfect. I have many video of it on my channel. I was lucky to find one in Potimao Blue which i think is the best color for this car. I probably won’t get this press car until 2023. Great video

Subscriber to your channel as well. I have an early 2021, also in Portimao Blue. I also had to forego the adaptive dampers as none where available at the time in the color. However, I replaced the runflats with 245/40r19 Comp2 A/S’s to both get a little more meat on the sidewall for Long Island winters / potholes and get a little more tire (the 225’s to me are a little too narrow for the car). It smoothed out the ride. I do still think the rebound over taller bumps can be a little harsh / weird. I have noticed that on other BMWs though in the past. That’s the one criticism I have about the suspension that I hope the adaptive would fix.
Man, the BMW 1-8 buttons are the most underrated but best feature of BMWs. Why would they kill it
I agree. Much prefer the 21-22 model years. By the way, the missing button is “adaptive”, not the exhaust. You get the adaptive button with the adjustable suspension. And I agree it’s worth it’s weight in gold… would not get one without it. Also, don’t pause after saying “hey BMW” just ask whatever you want. You quickly realize that massively helps its understanding of what you said. And the voice activation is actually quite good compared to most cars.

Only gripe about the lci is the ruined rear with the gloss black. Looks like a smile and I can’t unsee it.
I have a 2019 BMW X1 that's fully optioned and I customized a lot of stuff including 19" summer wheels and tires, sound system, custom programming including engine, intake, better brakes, adaptive dampers, self parking and a few other goodies including HUD; yet I can't wait for the hybrid iX1. Much better ergonomics, better interior and bigger vehicle. You guys nailed it though on this new 3 series. I'm a sub for SiriusXM and I love the app on my phone too. You guys are fun to watch. So I gather you did this review during our beautiful and unexpectedly warm fall weather. You have to admit though, BMW know how to make a steering wheel; one of the best in the industry. Solid review. I feel like the last gen iDrive and gauge cluster in the pre-LCI looked better than this slapped on tablet and no physical controls is a non-starter
I love this M340i, I think they cleaned it the exterior styling nicely while keeping the same escence of the non refreshed one, but the lack of 1-8 buttons and those not at all integrated screens make me like the non LCI model a little bit more because that was already great and it didn't have the cluttersome infotainment ready to charge you for subscriptions 🙄
Love the videos
You guys have been doing videos on the vehicles I am most interested in! Thank you! I love puppies 🐶
You do not want to get in your car on a cold morning with gloves on and be fiddling around with a screen trying to get heated seats, hvac turned up etc. Got a ‘22 X7 and love the control layout over this.
I wanted to reach through my screen every time Jakub called the pre-LCI version the "previous generation". They're both the same generation G20 platform! The previous gen. is the F30 which he should realize as a professional car reviewer.
I remember people used to say bmw was far behind for using buttons now look at people complaining lol. Lowkey the buttons are what made the interiors soo good in the bimmers
Really enjoy your reviews. I always find them so insightful. You guys certainly sold me on trying out a BMW 😂
The missing button under the drive mode is "adaptive," you only get that if you optioned with adaptive damper, which the one you guys drove doesn't have it

Feel like my 2017 F80 M3 will be the newest, if not last, BMW I ever own. They are definitely catering the latest iDrive8 to the “screen generation”. Seems almost all auto manufacturers are going this route. I understand from a business perspective, but it is alienating a segment of buyers like myself (41M). I will always prefer analog gauges and hard climate buttons. Especially in a performance car.

Great review gents. Just bought a new '23 M340i Xdrive this week. I just had to have that B58 motor in a small sports sedan. LOVE inline 6 motors. My older brothers had them in a 70s era 280Z and a BMW Bavaria. I had a 300ZX Turbo which had a V6 and it was nothing like that earlier Z. Now they are better than ever. So strong and fun with amazing efficiency. OK, the screen. I initially wanted to hate it and almost bought a 540 to avoid it. The same iDrive 8 screen is quite nicely integrated in the larger SUVs, but is hard to look at in the 3 series. Just stuck up there on the dash. It looks like an afterthought. Until you use it. This car replaced a '17 Accord Hybrid, which has three screens (including speedo) in three different places at three different depths. Looking at the iDrive 8 screen is a joy in comparison. Easy on the eyes, configurable, instant digestion of info. It disappears as a distraction when you are driving it. The key is to set up your shortcuts which are immediately accessible by pressing the iDrive controller a the top - one quick click. Heck, there is no more shifter onto which one can rest their right hand, so it sits on the controller instead. You can control many functions by learning how to use that controller. It beats multiple buttons and knobs. Having a physical volume knob is great too. You also can cut the music quickly on the steering wheel. Also, I renamed "Hello BMW" to an activation greeting of my choosing - a much simpler and distinctive one - and it responds instantly. "Hey ______" turn off screen" Darkness. So yes, a quick learning curve with some patience, and you will actually adapt. We are learning machines. If you have time to enable launch control without griping about it, you have time to use the excellent tech in this car. "Hey _______", turn on heated seats." Instant heat. Free in the USandA, no charge.
The new tail lights sick design 😍😍
The front looks nice on these, but cannot get over the rear with that overpowering diffuser. I'm glad I got my 2020 pre mild hybrid because the burbles make the driving experience that much more fun
fully agree. This LCI is just a cost saving measure. No more laser lights either.

Thanks for the review. I'm a first time BMW owner, and I got a 2023 BMW M340i. However, 2 weeks after getting the car, my car starts to show driver-train malfunction issues. Awesome video! I am 6’5. Would I fit in this car? Or would you recommend an M440i coupe? Thank you.
Thanks God I got the 2021 interior. Physical button for heated my seat and gauge cluster have an active map instead of that diamond shape rpm and mph.
Honestly I prefer the exterior of the none LCI
Wait, BMW is charging $16/month for heated seats....AFTER you pay a premium just to get them?!?!?! WTAF?

No you can buy them. But they are implementing this subscription option in case you want that instead of one time payment. That means all cars will come with the hardware.
The voice command had me dying 😂
5:55 yes it does, but you need to buy them separately. They call them "Iconic Glow Illuminated Kidney Grille" but only for pre-lci 3 series at the moment.
It’s going to be so much more difficult to drift and do donuts now that they got rid of the drive selector since you will now be forced to use the paddles for shifting manually instead of the drive selector.

Yup! Glad to see someone mentioning this. I dont mind the infotainment changes or exterior changes, but if I had to choose I’d go with a 20-22 because of the physical shifter
