Hi Jaw, Yes this is in the new building. We have had many people asking to operate the trommels so we thought why not just do a video and share it. Unfortunately we are not selling out of the building just yet. We were harvesting to spit our beds. We still have 4 beds to fill and we need all our worms to get this big space going. I will announce just as soon as we do though.

How do you keep your cocoons from falling through the 1/8" screen? With my hand shakers, I find I lose at least 50% of my cocoons unless I rescreen with a 1/12" screen.

We do lose some but most go through the 1/4'" screen. Maybe I should look into getting a 1/12" screen on the trommel. Do you know where I can find that size?

@@MemesWorms Mine is a pet proof screen wire from an old window screen. it's kind of hard to find it in wire, but it is still available. Thanks for the video. A trommel is in our future, but we aren't big enough to need one yet. Maybe next year.

@@MemesWorms , I think Jerry Callison is talking about trying to harvest castings and not lose cocoons to the cast harvest. In a hobby farm the R/W's are smaller, so are the cocoons from the smaller worms. I would not recommend a 1/12" screen to anyone. I have a manual sifter set in 1/2', 1/4", 1/8th", 1/12th" and 1/20th" mesh screen(s). Smaller containment, smaller worms, smaller cocoons. So a lot of cocoons pass through the 1/8" mesh. But 1/12" is too restrictive for a reasonable cast harvest compared to the labor and quantity of material needed for much cast. I wanted to split the difference and try a 1/10, but Imperial fractions don't easily work that way. They can be bought on-line separately as bonsai soil sifters and/or classifiers if one wishes to compare to results halfway between 1/8th & 1/12. After manual comparison, one could probably order the metric equivalent of mesh size online for a trammel. 🤔 For reference: 1/8"= 3.175 mm., 1/10th"=2.54 mm., and 1/12th"= 2.116 mm. I suspect a 2.5mm mesh might be easiest to locate. Aren't metric converter calculators wonderful..
