Worldweight Official Music Video • Made by August Kamp with Sora

Ғылым және технология

"i feel like this piece of art is my absolute heart and soul. i remember the way i felt when these notes tumbled through my hands and onto the keys of my synthesizer almost two years ago. i remember how it rained outside and how i felt so lucky to be able to pour these feelings into a song - something that could hold onto them so i didn't have to anymore. i closed my eyes while i played - something rare for me as i don't know my keys all too well - but i closed my eyes and i saw pictures in my mind.
this is what Sora is best for - in my opinion. taking these pictures that i've held onto for two years and saying "august - we can share these with folks". that's what i think is special about this tool. i get to share what was once locked behind my shut eyes - all alone.
which is to say - this is how the song has always "looked", it's just that now i get to show you." - @augustkamp

I can't wait for something like this to hit VR. This will have to partner with procedural generation, the procedural to keep AI in line... Fixed in certain areas. Video game systems would have to have a crazy amount of RAM unless they can think of an AI chip that (this isn't going to make any sense) uses foveated rendering like they do on the screen but on a chip... This way the chip itself automatically knows where to put the most constraints.

@@iamthemotivator0182 we already have some "foveated computation", as you say, upscaling is a good example, the details at greater scale are interpolated and everything is scaled up. Now if we're talking about generating everything on-the-go, not just upscaling and interpolated blank space in-between the upscaled pixels, then we're definitely gonna need some crazy rams to store the world as it generated

You never just whip out a random thing and clients like it out of nowhere. With no way to address comments this is rendered useless in most professional scenarios. AI has a big role to play in audiovisual production, but this is not its final shape. It won't make any random person a pro overnight or displace anyone who knows what they are doing. People who know what they are doing will be even further ahead if they invest the time to update themselves.

My concern about the sora video is that relatively few show consistent narratives/characters, I am supposing they are having issues maintaining consistency from one scene to the next. This is a problem for storytelling and most practical application of videos. Its not a problem for dreamy, surreal art house style videos, which is why most of the stuff coming out seems to be of that nature. Overall sora is very encouraging, but I'm not sure it's yet at the point of meeting the majority of peoples needs

It's not obvious that this was created specifically for the music, it could just as well be clips from doing a search on science/nature in an AI image gen database and combining them into a video. Not saying it is, just that it's hard to tell if there is a connection between the music and the clips, kind of have to take authors word for it

While the underlying technology is of course amazing, the actual imagery is completely underwhelming to the degree that I would describe it as being utter tripe. But for someone to be able to actualise *exactly* what was in her mind - what is being showcased here - and to be able to accurately and coherently generate it in the real world herself without any technical expertise normally associated with the video creation industry and at cost from nothing more than an English sentence is both revolutionary and liberating.

Correct me if I'm wrong anybody, I remember reading about how long it takes for SORA to create these videos. Assuming it's 30 fps, SORA processes 2.5 frames per second, so 12 seconds for 30 frames. This video would've taken about 27 minutes to create. But, maybe the artist had SORA generate much more content to work with for the final product. Future compute will be more efficient, reducing the time and energy needed. Looking forward to that!

I see no one really concerned about how this can disrupt the jobs of filmmakers, 3d, vfx, directors, etc. When anybody can create short films (full length movies in the near future). It's crazy to me that no one else is really concerned at all (or at least that's what it feels like). I hope I can live in a future where people still have a purpose in the creative industry and their job isn't just pressing the "generate button" a million times a day.

As an artist/designer I can say that AI tools have changed my job for the better actually. They save me a lot of time and let me focus on higher creativity than time sinks -- and any good studio will recognize the superiority of human touch over the limits and repetitiveness within AI generation. Sure, it's a bit frustrating to think we got all this training to do stuff that can be done in minutes now, but that just opens up new avenues and places for us to be creative. After all, this is just advancement of our tech and tools, like anything else.

I don't disagree that AI now can be used as a tool to be more efficient. I think my thinking is more long term. As the technology improves will some of the things we do become obsolete. For example I do 3D art and if the process of making assets is me just generating an asset until I get one that I like. What value do my skills have monetarily. Yes you could be right about humans having a unique creative touch, but do clients and consumers value that as much as the creator? Maybe they do and of corporations do decide to do mass layoffs and use AI for all their creative needs, hopefully it would backfire. Like I said I'm just more worried and concerned for the near future and what jobs look like. I do appreciate your perspective.

@@oldschoolpanels if you believe that AI can make inspiring music, inspiring images, fuse and muse them together while allowing for pure OUTSIDE inspiration to fuel, change, and modify the entire endeavor (eg. starting to create a music piece to describe/explore a life experience, end with actually producing a childrens coloring book) then it absolutely appears you are well suited to the "science" of "data". :) ever edited anything? ever felt the "click"? the need for the click? the miss when the click hasn't happened? ever had 3 different people edit (cutting is editing, hehe) the same materials and finish with 3 completely different feeling scenes? ever had that scene need to slide within other scenes, thus both creating and strengthening a chain that did not exist before that moment? maybe it's less of an "industry" and more of a "life" kinda thing? lovelight.
