was looking to get a 1070 but instead I just ordered this 1080 mini. when you say it hasn't quite the performance of a full 1080 I kinda disagree as you can see in your benchmarks there are only a 2 or 3 fps between them. the reason why I bought it though is that it's cheaper than a good 1070 and much cheaper than any 1080 here where I live, while its performance is also on par with the regular 1080 (at least the founder editions), it's basically the perfect card for me. great video btw

By the reviews I´ve seen it´s one of the coolest 1080 cards out there because it´s fans are always on. Some complained about the noise the fans make and abou some coil whine, but personnaly I didn´t find the noise to be audible enough to be a botter.

Nice review mate! By the way, wich build did you use? I might consider putting this in a normal atx build (and the one in this video seems like an ATX build) because this is much cheaper where I live than all other 1080's, but I don't wanna lack the other benefits that ATX has over mATX.

I have a ZOTAC 1060 AMP edition, never had an issue with it. Great brand.

I actually got this for my normal sized PC. First time PC builder, I saw that it was actually ridiculously cheap £400 ($430). So I got it. Amazing little beast, hasn't let me down yet :)

love this card, have had it for over 2 years now. BUT...exactly a year after i bought it (and i mean the exact day 1 year later) one of the fans died on me. Had to send it across the country to CA under warranty. Took about a month

This small card is great. I'm getting one, one of the best prices 1080s around at least in the EU.

Seriously thinking about picking one of these up, i've always dig the small size and yet still powerful enough to game through just about anything, but the $500+ price tag is the ouchies.

Well it definitely looks really good. Pricing is a bit high though... the only trump card this has is that it's perfect for mini itx builds like you mentioned. I miss the sick B-roll lol but it's a good review nonetheless 👏

I just put this badboy into my new secondary rig!! Pictures on my Google+ account :D Im using it as a VR rig as well as some other home network stuff just so I dont feel like Im throwing a crazy amount of PC power at something that is only used so often.... so its going to be a streaming box for my media server and some other stuff... its running x99 and a i7 5820k.

You should have included a reference 1080gtx in the benchmarks. The ASUS strix runs at 1784mhz base and 1936mhz boost while the zotac mini runs at 1620mhz base and 1759mhz boost clock. So, the asus is running 164mhz/177mhz faster. That's the reason the benchmarks show a difference. If the clocks were the same, the benchmarks probably would have been the same.

only non overclockable ability missing which can of course increase the fps like other cards have

guys! this card performs the exact same as the other 1080. you can see that it was "OC'd" so it got 1-2 more frames but if both ran stock they would perform the same.

No, "OC" in the benchmarks stands for ASUS STRIX "0C" Edition, both cards were overclocked.

I currently have a Gigabyte GTX 1080. I have the opportunity to swap to this. Should I? I am currently built in an In Win A1 mini ITX case. I love how small this GPU is, but I don't wanna sacrifice anything performance wise lol. I don't mind the fans being on at all times too if they aren't really that loud.

Running this one on 2050 mhz, 50 percent fan speed, 120 percent power target, under full load it goes up to 73 c, at 50 percent its pretty silent, never heard it over the casefans. That is in a small form factor case, it's the only 1080 that fits in it. Gonna replace the TIM with liquid metal to see if I can run it even cooler and quieter

ive got a question. ive heard alot of people saying that gpu temps matter because high temps reduce the lifetime of the card or the gpu itself. like for example to identical cards with different coolers. 1 runs at 68° the other at 83°.. both under gaming load. the 83° card might die and show graphicsproblems after 3000 hours on load while the 68° card might run 8000 hours without any problem. it that true?

Can it fit in a MSI trident3?

For those who don't know, he's comparing the 1080 mini with the Asus Strix 1080 OC version which boosts up to 1936mhz. If he compared it to the regular Asus Strix 1080 (boost clock 1733mhz), the mini would perform better as its slightly faster. But probably only by ~2FPS.

I bought this to play battlefront 2 on ultra, and WOW I cannot play that game with ultra, I got 16gb 2400, 3.40 ryzen 5 2600x, I upgraded from an MSI 3gb 1060, it could run Battlefront with nearly ultra settings and resolution scale increased, I'm not a pc wizard, but I'm sure below 30fps gaming on ultra isn't something that should be happening, right?

Yes that’s absolutely fine, they join together to make an 8-pin connection.

Why do you compare a OC version of a GTX1080 and this card? It´s no brainer that the OC version does a little bit better.

Damn, that card's smaller than my ego. But a million of these cards wouldn't even reach 1/10th of my ex's ego. Really nice card but way out of my price bracket. If you have one at home that's pretty much a glorified book stop, I'll give it a good home to replace my 970GTX. Lol.
