No but it is unique to yachts of this size generally speaking sailing yachts this big are all analog meaning you actually need crew out there trimming the sails and whatnot but this looks to be entirely automated meaning the whole process can be controlled from the bridge by one person.

For the ones of us who have owned boats, the quote "Boats are nothing but holes in the ocean where your pour money " here is the quintessential boat that illustrates that perfectly . The maintenance on this vessel will be horrendous . They say on a sea going vessel 10% of it's value per annum is a good sum to put aside for maintenance .

From a styling point of view there is something about the design of the superstructure that makes it look like it should be on a smaller boat. In addition the bow looks a bit forlorn without any headsails which understandably would be hard to incorporate into the automated design.

Fore and aft sails probably would help with windward performance and stability but it would be harder to implement. Perhaps they could take inspiration from other superyachts that are fore-aft rigged. As someone who lives near the Great Lakes I am also curious if anyone will ever attempt to develop a schooner design with the DynaRig technology for sailing in such waters.

they are one of the most efficient design (dyna-rig), not able to be build until now due to lack of material able to withstand the stress without ringings. your concern is maybe due to the fact that you see them in line so you think that the front sail has no wind but remember that the wind very rarely blows in the exact direction you want to go (from aft) so in most cases you have it from lateral. Also the sails of this particular vessel has flexible solar panels so its not only the wind that powers the ship.

Under sail, the propellers are switched to regenerative mode by changing blade angle to charge the batteries. I don't expect great performance under sail alone being such a heavy ship. Despite having three masts it could have probably benefited from a little more sail area. I wouldn't be surprised if it sails most of the time with the engine on.

I didn't realize it took so long to unfurl those sails. It was great to watch, but I'm a bit disappointed by how long it takes. Edit: It sure trims them fast, though! Wow!

What? It only takes 6 minutes to unfurl 31,215 sq ft of sail, that's incredibly fast.

Except it isn't. The Falcon is 88.1m long with a 12m beam. The Pearl is 106.7m long with a 15m beam. Pearl has reached 20 knots (and claims to be able to do 30) to Falcon's 18.
