That's big power considering the last ranger 3.2l only made about 140hp at the tyres with an exhaust and tune and this is making 100hp more! Huge really

That ancient Landrover diesel has been around for 20 years in 2.7 and 3.0 form and had the buggery tuned out of it for some good numbers. It even came out with a 225kw, 700nm factory tune in the EU on their low Sulfur diesel. Like all diesels, especially those towing heavy, EGTs are the issue.

The problem with this engine is it's designed for east-west so has a stupid short crank.

The LR engines from 20 years ago did not get 225kw and 700 at all they were 140kw and 440Nm (Ford territory). Modern LR 3.0L V6 turbo diesel engines are getting better numbers.

I have the same concern but ford did put a better crank in it they said. In saying that , not enough main journals was the problem in L.R so heres hoping. Other than that they always punched good numbers and the ranger follows that line. I have a V6 XLT 18000ks so far and no probs. It really pulls my trailer well now, so this tune would be epic!

I’ve seen a few reviews that say this engine is using a fair bit more fuel than Ford’s claimed economy figures. What impact will the tune have on real-world fuel use if you assume a car like this would mostly be a family runabout with occasional off-road or towing?

How could a car lose 26% torque through the driveline? 600Nm at the crank and only 448Nm ATW! and then lose 23% power through the driveline.

It’s called drive train loss, we’ve done plenty of video on this. EVERY vehicle is different with different loss from flywheel to engine, there is not “once size fits all % off loss” Transmissions are different, Diff ratios are different if it’s awd, tyre size many things play a parts in drive train loss.

the drive elements are very heavy, and once the power goes to the wheels, it has to turn a heavy shaft, the gearbox, the drive axles and finally the wheels and tires, power is lost along the way

Unless youre a tech savvy , NM KW HP etc mean absolutely nothing to an 18 yr old , whats my 0-100kph before and After ? That is the holy grail question that needs answering , its the only reason Anyone would do a tune up . then what about acceleration gaps .... 80-120 old and new . 100-140 old and new ....man , you missed a great opportunity here , you left out the key thoughts of every single person here . Is this the first time youve done a vid like this ?

Thanks for the feedback and I will address all of this in another video, 100-140 isn’t going to be easy. I’ve purchased a draggy to help with some of these requests. Never occurred to me that people would be interested in 80-120. I don’t think every single person is a fair comment as this is the only feedback received, however I think it’s a very good point.

@JohnMcG mate most people getting more power in their offroad vehicle want it for getting to their offroad tracks faster and for reliably towing their caravans and camper trailers over the 1100 sand dunes going across the Simpson Desert and not for mall crawling faster than their mates in their Discovery's. Having said that though these guys turned my 2014 1HD-FTE straight 6 in my 1995 4 tonne Troopy into a VDJ (V8) with the works, killer haha! 172 RWKW's and 600 something nm's and I smoked him.
