#WorldBalletDay

Ойын-сауық

+++
It's WORLD BALLET DAY 2020, and we're excited to celebrate it with you! Despite the current situation, our company was fortunate enough to be able to stage a variety of productions before lockdown will put a stop to it for now. This we want to share with all of you, presenting an excerpt from our gala programme FROM BERLIN WITH LOVE II:
The Grand Pas de Deux from LE CORSAIRE with Iana Salenko and Daniil Simkin as well as PAS DE QUATRE by Anton Dolin with Yolanda Correa, Evelina Godunova, Sarah Hees-Hochster and Aya Okumura.
Enjoy, and have a wonderful WORLD BALLET DAY!

    Salenko and Simkin injected real passion into what can be a dusty old favourite. They both have soft, elegant and expressive upper bodies combined with legs of steel. Loved this version of the pdd.

    Iana Salenko and Daniil Simkin are such a perfect match! They both have not only a stunning technique and artistry, but they also radiate the same passion for ballet. And they both look much taller than they actually are, lol 😂 👏❤️ Because they both have such beautiful long lines. Who would guess that Iana is only 5 ft 1?

    The Grand pas de deux of Le Corsaire by Daniil Simkin and Iana Salenko was very wonderful . All the scenes of the two are beautiful and perfect, and each variation is also stunning . It's been a while since I've seen such a wonderful Le Corsaire Grand pas de deux. Their respective careers, very highest ballet technique, and expressiveness were perfect. I was deeply moved in every scene.Bravo !!!!!

    Daniil Simkin has so many great moments....his jump combinations are so original and so incredible, truly poetry in motion! The beginning pas de deux with Salenko was just marvelous, a really good pairing! All of the women in Pas de Quatres danced with such beauty and grace, in lovely attitudes, such control! I kept thinking during both ballets how lucky Berliners are to have these dancers to watch, truly amazing work!

    I indulged myself into a binge-watching of Berlin dancers and i can't get enought. I had no idea that Simkin, Correa and Virellles are already there. And i also appreciate the diversity of styles/genres that you are trying to accomodate within one opera house. No wonder that so many of the great contemporary choreographers started their careers in Germany. Thank you for that from Ukraine

Superlativi. BIGHIN GIULIO RENZO 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

    The pas de quatre was danced beautifully by all four dancers, especially Yolanda who was so fluid and had great footwork. The music and costumes were also lovely. The Corsaire pas de deux was entertaining and energetic, especially Simkin with his awesome turns. Thanks for posting, C ❤❤❤

    Thanks for sharing!! Pas de Quatre is absolutely exquisite. I had the feeling that it was a young choreography. It used to be danced in a very old fashioned style. Here, the four ballerinas have the technique and body of today's dancers and that makes it look so young and refreshing.

    Amazing! GPDQ completely captured the style of the period (I think they even softened their pointe shoes so they would resemble those of the time) and, without overdoing it, the fact that the 4 ballerinas were not necessarily on good terms. Corsaire was just an OMG INCREDIBLE. I've never seen the movement that's like a barrel turn with the following leg brought around (is there a name for this?) done sequentially nor most of the male choreo for this pdd embellished to this extent, but where else could you embellish and have it look brilliant? And Iana---I just run out of superlatives trying to describe her technical finesse and elegance. Thanks so much for posting!

    @Ian Roberson Thank you! I knew I'd heard a name for it somewhere but forgot. I felt like Simkin was doing some of the frills "because I can" (reminded me a little of some of the tricks a young Roberto Bolle would pull out, like posee to 5th , then extend to arabesque---and hold and hold and hold---whilst still on half pointe). But in a stand-alone pdd, there really is no better place to pull out all the stops. I've usually seen the 540s done as one barrel-type turn, then down to one knee, then rinse and repeat. I have never seen them done continuously like this. Pretty amazing! And I have nothing but rapturous sighs for everything Selenko does!
