I’m in Normandy right now, flying formation over the memorials and pointe du hoc and the beaches. I’m wrapping up my enlistment, and always saw the military as a stepping stone more or less for my actual goals. But flying over and recognising the gravity and atmosphere of the events that happened years ago, rekindled my patriotism and instilled in me a new found appreciation for the commitment I’ve served alongside my friends and allies. My unit dropped the airborne units over Normandy 79 years ago. 37th Troop Carrier Squadron, Go Bluetails!

I met a WWII veteran in CVS, I greeted him with a handshake and "THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE" He said thank you and had a great big smile.... That's all these vets want to hear! I consider it a great honor to meet one! I also met a Holocaust survivor on a jet blue flight from NYC, he was in a concentration camp and everything and showed me his old faded Holocaust tattoo!

These men are some of the finest company we will ever know. If you ever see one of these men out. Buy their groceries, give ‘em a cup of coffee. These men deserve much more

The first time I visited Omaha cemetery, my girlfriend, from Eastern Europe, broke into tears, overwhelmed by the amount of crosses there. As a French, I'm grateful to all those men who died for us. The only solace I could find at the moment was that they have a beautiful place where to rest, thanks to the staff who take great care of it.
