Please, if one day you have an original helmet with its period paint, put on gloves to handle it. the skin secretes acidity which first shines the color, and then destroys it definitively with rusty damage, and these rather old undamaged objects become rare. please keep them with care, thanks.

I want to wear one to honour my great-grandpa, he was a Stormtrooper, one of very, very few to survive, also I do not have to worry about people making me with a rock when trie my shoe laces,

Not a bad camouflage job at all on the reproduction. I have ordered a Soviet SSH 36 from IMA and the shell was excellent but the liner was about as cheap as any might come. The liner for the reproduction leaves much to be desired but it can be replaced without much effort.

I actually was considering buying an Austrian-Hungarian M17 from IMA awhile back. How credible is IMA? My apologies, I’m just skittish because as we all know, these aren’t exactly cheap to buy. Thank you.

@@Goedendag28 I've only purchased three helmets from IMA. Yes their prices are very steep but they are honest enough. Check and see if they have a return policy if you are not happy with the helmet.

@@johnzeszut3170 I recently bought a helmet listed as a “Austro-Hungarian M17 converted for Finnish use”. However, the received item was instead a German M18 converted for Finnish use. I wasn’t displeased though, since I did want a German stalhelm more and the price was rather reasonable. Yet, it did leave me slightly worried whether an item I ordered might turn out to be something else.

@@Goedendag28 As long as you are satisfied with the purchase it is all right. It does sound like a very interesting and unusual helmet to have. I know that the Finns used quite a few helmets.

@@johnzeszut3170 I know! Original unaltered M18s are rather hard, or to be more exact, may be slightly more expensive for one to purchase. Nonetheless, one that has undergone service with the Germans and Finnish does seem to have more of a story to it! Speaking of Finns, they also used a Hungarian version of the German Stahlhem, which should be interesting to collect.
