Ive never been to a more self loathing place than the US. Funnily enough most people that obsessively bash the US have barely, if at all, travelled abroad. Trust me on accent alone in much of europe, south america, some parts of asia and africa, locals will openly show disdain for you (if not just speak amongst themselves). Having had the privilige of seeing much of the globe through my job (and spending 2 months a year in the US) i can comfortable say that the US is much more welcoming to foreigners than most other countries are to US citizens. The level of self hate when youre blessed to live in such an amazing country is borderline pathetic.

EVs have a limited use case. They're really only practical if you can charge up at home every night and take longer trips rarely to never. They work best as commuter cars, not do-it-all cars. Hybrids and PHEVs are where we should be going until we can solve several major problems with charging and power supply.

As someone who drives possibly the slowest DC fast charging car (Bolt), I will definitely say that EVs do not make sense unless you have a place at home to charge, or you own a Tesla. Fast charging on the road is not a big deal in MOST places in the US as long as you are smart and don’t assume the charging infrastructure is as ubiquitous as the 100 year old fuel station infrastructure. It will take some time to get there, but I would still recommend an EV if you are driving a lot of miles. The fuel savings will pay for the EV premium price tag easily.

Taycan owner getting charged. Charging to 99% while 5 people waiting. Nice. He stayed with car the whole time. I’m trying to get enough juice to get back home. Etiquette for charging needs to be learned and followed. Or we are in for a lot of pain in the future.

You lost me when both the Taycan customer & the tow truck driver couldn't jump the car. If the instructions were clear the tow truck driver who jumps people all day should have figured it out.

I know you couldnt, but I would have savaged the guy who left the bad review. I would have laid it all out for everyone to judge for themselves. As a business, I know you werent at liberty to do that.

They won’t get “penalized” for driving them? So you’ll pay as much for a car with 50,000 miles as one with 5,000, all other things being equal?

The penalty comes in babysitting a car that you paid good money for and never getting to enjoy and still taking some depreciation while the guy driving it gets his money's worth from the experience and joy. If you're buying a car just to hold for the resale value then you're in the wrong business.

@@FlyingTigersKMT I completely agree that there is a “penalty” to not droning the car. You’re missing out on the enjoyment and true purpose of the vehicle. I’m just saying there’s also a penalty for putting 50,000 miles (as opposed to 5k) on a GT3. There is no free lunch. Depreciation takes a bite, and a reseller will necessarily take that into consideration.

@@FlyingTigersKMT Buyers are very conscious about these things. It makes no sense to me either, but there’s a reason so many of these cars have no miles. Hell, my parents know a guy who’s crazy wealthy. He has a new Bentley Continental GT. He does not drive it from Florida to Michigan each season because of the miles. Instead, he drives his Honda Pilot. No joke. The additional depreciation would make zero difference in his lifestyle, but that’s how a lot of these owners are wired. 🤷🏻‍♂️
