Awesome review. Had my eye on it thru emails and Ordered mine before it’s too late. I’ve had a Mirior brand (might spell check me on that one)mini projector and it ROCKED! So I’m 100% Cerrain this will go above and beyond for bonfires and backyard get togethers. Thanks for going thru the details. Really cements the buy for us on this side as well. Much appreciated!!! -Rob

Very cool to see this. My buddy does many of the reference designs for the chipset company and helps support the various companies using it. He has been in the portable projector group for about 20 years.

D-MIN & D-MAX are Absolutely Critical for resolving detail as well as the gamut color depth. What alot of people don't realize is that the image is only going to be as good as the source material fed into it!!!...as in the number of bits per color pixel...whether it be 8, 16 or 24-bit color depth to support the wide color gamut. Nice review, BTW!!!😁👍🏻

@@Toidin my opinion it's the best american adaptation of an anime/manga series and it was definitely worth waiting for it since I hear that James Cameron was interested in it back in 2008 or so. I heard rumors that he wanted to make it a trilogy which would be awesome since there's so much more they have to show from the first series, the prequel and the sequel books too

Thank you again for your in-depth reviews! Because of your review, I purchased Nomvdic L500 Triple Laser Projector. I am just wondering, out of the box (default) was your L500 heavy on red? Mine was and has been challenging getting proper skin tones without the red and then not affecting other colors like green grass. Tried some of their different settings which slightly improved. Was wondering if it is a projector calibration issue before it left the factory and can it be 'fixed' at home without sending back.

This is one of those items that tempt me to buy it at that price even though I have no place to use it right now. How big of a screen were you projecting it on? I would have a hard time getting good light control in either of my HT setups without some serious work and room reconfigration.

As far as BenQ goes you’re talking about the 2150 series I would take this. If you are talking about the 3550, I’d rather have that. However the 3550 is almost twice the price.

I noticed you saying how true to the spec of rec color space this is , does that mean you have a way of reading the color with a calibrator if so I'd li,e to know what is the optimal settings . I find the colors to intense and a tad to soft, I noticed the sharpness on my unit is set to 0 thnx in advance for any and all help 😊😊😊

Thanks. I actually did test it with my meter. Unfortunately, I don’t have the projector anymore. And the person who received it actually did a factory update which erased the settings. So unfortunately, I can’t give them to you. In the future I’ll make sure to put them on my website.

You know so blue it makes whites look like cool grayish bluish , i know each projector has difrent ofsets to get to a number give or take but how much blue red and green do I use to achieve this or it takes , inother words I know I'd have to give or take with one projector or onother to get there but when I do what what be the number amount 4 achieving this with red blue green , again thnx in advance for any and all help

One thing I wish you'd cover when it comes to HDR would be peak brightness(how well it represents specular highlights) and when It comes to image quality how much it crushes highlights and shadows..(at this price range I'm expecting it to crush at least some detail ...it would be extremely impressive if it didn't)

  • @Toid

Well that is simple. The Formovie is probably the best on the market. So that wins hands down. It is also over 4x the price. So that would be the sticking point. But if I had the money to burn, I’d send it on the Formovie.

Like most projectors, it does best in a light controled room. I wouldn’t use it with all the lights on, but some ambient light is not a problem. It won’t be as good as with the lights off, but it will be viewable.

the lasers are not "lasers" per say , its not a laser scanning like the old CRT's, they just use laser tech to create the light output. it is used because it is more efficient, greater output, and makes less heat
