Gypsy was best friends with my late parents for decades. He spent many Thanksgivingings, Christmas, Birthdays and especially their 50th Anniversary. Gypsy is a wise, kind and generous man. We are looking forward to celebrating his 90th BIRTHDAY! We love you Gypsy!!

There is a lot to learn from them that isn't in the history books because they were 'normal' people and not of some royal bloodline or politician family (which are usually the kind of people who get their history meticulously recorded).

Gypsy is incredibly inspiring. So much wisdom in this video. Thanks for letting us know about her and allowing her to share her story! However, the proud Portlandian in me can't help but make a correction: Darcelle XV is older at 86 and runs the oldest operating drag club on the west coast.

Gypsy is not the oldest working drag queen in the world. Darcelle XV in Portland is 86 years old and is not just still working... but owns her own club! This is officially recognized by Guinness Records.

I think about what it would be like to be gay 50 years ago (I'm only 17 :P), and I'm instantly grateful for the gift I've been given, which was made possible only because so many of my gay brothers and sisters had to suffer just so that, one day, myself and the younger generations could LOVE without living in fear. Actually my 86 year old great uncles partner, Walter Cole (Darcelle XV) is the world's oldest working drag Queen (per Guinness World Records late 2016) at 6 days a week inside his own club in Portland Oregon. Look it up :)
