Suggestion: get the bolt in the vice and unscrew the nut. You're putting a lot of pressure on the nut in that vice and it's soft metal, deforming it and making it more difficult to remove the bolt.

I had the harbor freight battery impact 6 years ago. All you have to do is attach a 6s 5000mah RC car lipo to it. It will definitely bust some nuts loose! Lol

Here’s what I don’t get (yes off topic a little) Snap-on cordless are made the best on the market but lack so much power. They are so much easier to service and the anvil housings are thicker. They don’t seem to have powdered metal pressed gears either. It just makes no sense for why they are so weak to other competitors. M18 is the best choice overall. I run Makita since I am on that platform. Makita TD171DZ is hands down best impact driver on the market and one of the few Japanese made tools left from Makita. The torque is not quite as high as Milwaukee but made better. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you.

Thanks! Makita is also one of the few tool brands that isn’t owned by some mega-conglomerate as far as I know. I’d love to give them a shot, but like you, I fell for the battery system and now I can’t leave.

Yes the snap on also uses powder metal gears. It’s unavoidable. The snap ones have a known issue as well where the drive square is prone to snapping because of bad heat treating.

  • @jasonhull2163

@@kfs777 You sure the older ones aren’t solid gearing? I have a 14.4 3/8 and A1/2 18 volt snap on impact. They were bought new about 10 years ago and they still run good just have had to replace batteries a few times. I wouldn’t buy anything snap on now cause they are under powered and cost to much. However I know for a fact they are easier to service. Old grand father tools used metal gearing like Milwaukee back in the day.

Not gonna lie from years of working on common American cars and trucks I have to come to HATE engineers. But as I have aged and learned about bean counters. I think my hate is not properly directed….. I think companies need to let engineers properly do their job. Let these guys eat let them design the way they use too. Give them freedom to choose proper materials. Gosh if we let the engineers run wild with today’s technology. I believe you guys could really make some wonderful products that out last 2 generations instead of just 1 like what was built in the 20s 30s 40s and 50s.

I found his video as I decided after having this sit in my garage for 6 years to research battery options. In about 30 minutes of searching what I’ve seen is that some people are taking the Ni-MH battery pack from Porter-Cable-compatible packs, transferring them into the Chicago Electric case, and soldering the + and - terminals. I might try this but my soldering skills suck balls.
