    Even if a vehicle has the ability to control itself, I would always want the option of the person inside being able to take control. Plus, flying it manually is a lot more fun.

    +Physics Videos by Eugene Khutoryansky although I completely agree, there is no way public transportation in the air can go mainstream while allowing manual control, because of the traffic of course, we can't build roads in the air, which means that one would need to be aware of traffic that could come at you from any degree in all axis, the human brain simply can't handle all that in my opinion.

    ***** yeah obviously, which supports the idea that everything needs to be automated, of course there will be sensors all around the vehicle, that doesn't mean that a human brain is going to be able to keep up with all the input from these sensors.

    +Jafar Al-Moosa That's all fine and well until the computing system that controls the craft has a glitch or malfunction. Without any option for manual override in such a situation, it's a case of bye bye birdie.

    International Innovator Never did I claim that you can't put a parachute on this thing. You can and it would be a good safety feature. However I did say they are very heavy. over 50 pounds at the lighter and simpler end of the spectrum for an aircraft of this size but that's with a manual pull cord, that doesn't even account for the extra electronics and sensors required. All of this weight makes a massive difference in rotorcraft which already struggle with power to weight ratios. If the weight limit for the passenger is 230 pounds it's now less than 180 when you add a parachute and that's a GENEROUS estimate.

  • @internationalinnovator6294

    @internationalinnovator6294

    7 жыл бұрын

    true but it probably would have a light weight body that is rigid made out of reinforced carbon plastic which is found in the bmw i3 and would save a lot of weight the heaviest thing in there would be the battery and this type of aircraft would be way less mechanically complicated none of the motors would need to be physically connected with heavy shafts and rotors

    Inspiring and touching that Ehang was started due to deaths from plane and helicopter accidents. Safety is the first concern of the passenger and hopefully Ehang and other "drone car" manufacturers will do all they can to ensure that. The airline industry can learn a thing or two about safety concerns from these guys. Great video, my friend. Thank you.

    I believe as you said this is not the whole story, but because of ideas and visionary people like this we can do so much things. I can compare this to VR. Just starting, not for the major market yet, but still growing so fast. The importance here is not the drone itself, but the thoughts and efforts behind it, because there will be another man with a different story, who can say - Hey, I can do this better! Great video as always!

    Got some things wrong: The airbus plane was not the first to cross the channel fully electric. the very day before, an electric cri-cri crossed, taking the title from the airbus plane. the 184 is triple redundant, in it's flight control systems, and it can fly safely with a motor or even two out, as long as they are not adjacent. The fact that the FAA won't easily certify it means nothing, as the FAA will not certify important safety fixes for older aircraft, and when they do, it often takes decades, and people can die in the meantime. many operators defy the fAA, and perform the fixes anyway, saving countless lives. for inspection, they swap the older parts back, then have to switch again before resuming flight. The safest, best, most modern aircraft fly under EXPERIMENTAL exemptions, but are not allowed for commercial purposes. The FAA is a rouge agency, which continually violates it's congressional mandates, and goes against the purpose for which it was created, with regard to smaller aircraft. The real place of the FAA is in large, commercial aviation, where they do a great job, and are in their element. they are not flexible enough to deal with anything else effectively. there are a lot of great people working for the FAA, so the problem is not with them per say, but with the structure, and oversight of the organization,a slo with certain corruption within the agency, at high levels. This corruption will become evident very soon. The 184 might not be the ultimate answer, Agreed, but is an amazing step on the way there, and may receive significant adoption. Good for the Chinese, and maybe their progress will shame the west into doing what they should have all along as well. way to go! other than that, great video. tell your congressman/woman to hold the FAA responsible for their actions, and repeated violations of congressional mandates/ reform act.

    There's a lot of discussion regarding a multirotor (MR) vs a single rotor (SR) helicopter. If full-scale vehicles perform similar to professional-grade RC vehicles, which I think they more or less do when it comes to the basics, then here are some facts:-SRs are more efficient due to blade size (more flight time per energy source)-SRs are significantly more stable in windy conditions (contrary to many comments here)-SRs are capable of generating more thrust, in general (larger payloads)-SRs are much, much more agile (again, contrary to some comments here)-SRs are significantly more reliable (more mechanically-based, less electronically based)-SRs are generally less expensive to make-SRs can also be controlled through autopilot systems (not just true for MRs)-SRs can autorotate when main power supply is cut-SRs are much easier to make run on combustion engines (this hugely increases flight time, load carrying capacity, ...)-SRs are quieter-MRs are easier to fly without autopilot system-MRs have fewer mechanical parts and, in this sense, are easier to work on mechanically-MRs are less finicky when it comes to eliminating vibrations (smaller propellers)-MRs have redundancy of motors, provided that they are octos (either flat or co-axial) and still have main power supply intact-MRs are less dangerous to surrounding persons and property (smaller propellers with less inertia)In general, I personally do not think that MRs are a good substitute for SRs, even though both may serve their purpose under particular circumstances. "Drones/Quadcopters/..." are in large part a fad with which many hope to make money from.

A BRS system would be needed so should a major problem happen a passenger could simply pul the handle and come down on a shoot.

    Sidharth Satheesh It would use a larger rotor cos diesel can provide enough oomph. Electric batteries forces it to compromise to low energy designs. But the longer the rotor, the more leveraged power it can provide compared to shorter rotors BUT spinning large rotors requires alot of energy that electric batteries can't provide. Only gasoline can reach that kind of massive power. :( LueLou.. Dj Rucy Helicoters uses diesel aka aviation gasoline, not petrol lol

    Is there any hope you could do one on virtual reality? You seem to have touched on it once or twice already but I can't seem to find any dedicated to it. Cheers!!

    Here is your answer for malfunction. It's on their website Four arms and eight propellers offer great lifting power and safety. Even with one propeller malfunctions, it can still land in the nearest possible area safely. The 184 AAV has embedded with Ehangen fail safe system. If any components malfunction or disconnect, the aircraft will immediately land in the nearest possible area to ensure safety. The communication is encrypted and each AAV has its independent key.

    They should create a version of this that only uses 2 blades, one for lift and one for rotation. Can call it the monodrone or helicopter or something like that

    What is the range on this thing in between battery charges ? I think it needs at least 200 miles for it to be useful.
