Thanks for this review! It was super helpful but could I get some suggestions? I ran my design using the following settings: Power :90 Speed :50 Lines per inch: 200 I have a lot of fine details and halftone accents that didn’t engrave through! What setting would you suggest for this? 😮

Hi! Thanks for the video! I bought it during the kickstarter campaign, but i didn't buy the laser, thinking to buy one later (maybe find a less expensive one). Honestly i'm a total noob about lasers (but i love screen printing, that's why i wanted to try this), i don't even know which laser i should buy to engrave my screens. I'm looking for an affordable one (i just want to use it as a hobby), but powerful enough to work great. Any recommandations? Would a 20W laser works? They said on the page that any laser brand should works. Thank you.

The mesh is made of thin stainless steel wires not nylon

According to the site, there's nothing special about the fully-exposed photosensitive emulsion or the stainless screens it is painted upon. They claim users should be able to make their own screens after reusing the originals hundreds of times.

can the D1 PRO 5w be use to engrave the screen?

Yes, D1 Pro 5W can be used to engrave the screen. But you will need to perform 2 passes at around 80% power and 5000 mm/min speed.

Are you using steel mesh or normal mesh

After the material is applied do you use a dryer or does it just air dry?

It air dries enough in about 10 minutes for the nest layer. However, you it'll take 48 hours before you can wash it.

depends on the ink - don't know about the XTOOL bundled ink - but usually with water based screen printing ink you need to heat it to get it to cure (sublimation heat press works well) - or add curing catalyst if want to air dry- otherwise it will wash out

so basically one would have to have access to a laser engraver to use this print system?

Yes. You will need a laser engraver to engrave the required design on the screen before printing.

Dtf is faster and pretty damn close...i was going to get this but once i saw the print quality and i did 10 shirts in less then an hour...

Yes, DTF is surely a better option, but for someone who already has a laser and wants to do prints occasionally, the xTool Screen printer can be a great option. Also, once you engrave the design on the screen, you can print the design on a batch of shirts in no time.

I haven't tried DTF yet - but doesn't it have a HTV kinda feel to it? a bit like a plastic coating - screen printing has a more professional finish in my understanding?

Xtool claims the screens are reusable as long as one can - remove and reapply emolsion. did you explore this options? pretty sure a mess up on engrave will be frequent.

Yes, technically, you can reapply the top coating to reuse the screen. But to do that, you will need to dial in your laser settings perfectly so that it does not weaken the mesh underneath. I found that the mesh is very fine and is easily damaged when pressure is applied with the squeegee.

@@MellowpineLasers I don't believe you would use your laser to remove or reclaim the screen but use a emulsion remover paste and then reapply new emulsion.

I wanna buy this but I’m not sure if it can print my design cause they are too small, can someone here print me a sample and I pay him, I just wanna make sure that it can make my design ❤

@@MellowpineLasers first you going to leave the print screen flying and you going to spread the ink then you push the print screen on the t-shirt and vary hard press at angle of 45 from the bottom to the front do you get it what I mean

Oh, you mean I used the squeegee wrong? I understand, I didn't know how to use it just watched some videos and did it. Figured out I was wrong when I tore through the screen mesh lol

It's a good tool for hobbyists... commercially I don't think it's viable... 38 min for 3.5x3.5 design.. it's too much time...

I agree. I can output film, shoot a screen and be on press in 20 to 30 min. Ready to print. Single color.
