I use Mean Monther's combo deflate, I found if you drill out the releif holes a little its much quicker, now for the inflation tests are you going to test pumps aswell?

I have 4 tyres connected to a 3/8 ball valve for deflation (with valves going to front and rear to allow for different pressures at each axle). Takes 1 minute 30 seconds to deflate 4 tyres from 40 psi to 10 psi. The valve core is not removed and the main time saving is only doing it once instead of 4 times. I also have an automatic inflator/deflator connected to it which takes about 6 minutes, I use this if I have something else to do while the tyres deflate.

If you want particular pressures, just check out the graph and compare the start and finish. There seems to be a few people mentioning the stauns, I might have to drag out my set and give them a run.

I have 2 sets of Stauns, one set at 18psi for mud and sand and another set to 25psi for corrugations. I find this fastest (especially when the misso does passenger side side) and without being hunched over a valve stem. I put red heat shrink over the 18psi and black over the 25psi, it also doubles as a lock to prevent accidentally adjusting them when twisting them off and on. I did get the CampBoss adjustable Staun style but they are slower, the air hole is smaller and in fact the whole unit is smaller even the psi gauge is hard to read and set bang on. If they made them bigger they would be on a winner. Great video mate, just slapped subscribe and like. 👍

I have never used a deflator, i have always just removed the schrader valve, you need to add the time of screwing on all the other contraptions. I've never lost a valve, but carry plenty spares any way. I have a purpose made screw driver type tool for removing the valve.

I've got a blue handled one as well around somewhere! The issue is getting down to the right pressure using the screw out screw back in method. I suppose you would get better at guessing with practice, but couldn't get nearly as accurate as a guage.

@@LockyourHubs4WDing i have a compact analog Jamec gauge in one hand, if I'm aiming for 15psi, when I'm getting close i put it on and off till i hit 16, then screw the valve in. If I'm a psi out, i just pick up a small stick to get it bang on.

The fastest thing I use as I don't have to remove the valve is the ARB digital inflator since I bought one and saves having to remove the valve and ensures that I get the appropriate pressure I want easily.

A more useful comparison would be to time from the point where you get out of the vehicle until you get back in again with all 4 tyres ready to go. Or perhaps repeat that to drop pressures again for some serious stuff, back up again to a midpoint and back up to road speeds. I use a jamec auto inflater/deflater which isn't as quick as my arb deflater but I can leave it to do it's job whilst I do other tasks like adjust my shocks, remove valve caps or deflate one of the other tyres with an arb deflater, or umm visit a nearby tree/amenities

I would have if I were comparing them to the likes of the Jamec Pem. Though, in all three instances here, you have to remove the core. That'll take a similar time for each test. Every time you can remove an inconsistent variable like people, you should, it'll make thrle data more accurate.

That was great - thanks for making the effort and documenting it. If I was going to totally deflate the tyre I'd just take the valve out anyway. Good luck getting the valve back in if you want to stop at 15psin though, so lacking the defrankenflator, I'd use the rapid deflator for hwy pressure to sand pressures. Another option I've been toying with is getting 4 of those set the pressure and screw it on jiggas - at least all 4 tyres are going down at once.

I have been using the automatic 'TRAILHEAD' tyre deflators for several years . There are different brands of the same principal but they work great in that you're not crouched beside your car for and length of time as you just screw them on and start driving. The only disadvantage is you need to ensure you keep them clean of debris before use.

They look something similar to Stauns, it's just the lack of adjustability that would be an issue for me. I 4WD in all sorts of terrain, everthing from reasonably high speed outback roads, to snow and sand, that all require different pressures, so I would need a few sets!

Hi Simon, a typically well made and comprehensive experiment - backed by data. So obviously pulling the valve is the quickest way - no impediment to air flow. I was surprised that it took +2 mins to deflate tho. I have that Repco one you used as part of your setup, and it is quicker than using the old brass Staun's, but clearly not as fast as the Franken-deflator - bigger ID means quicker escape. Nice job mate. (seriously tho - 4x4 'tire' deflation? please......) or did you do that for the YT algorithm? How did you go with the EVC device? I like mine as with an E-throttle it can get a bit bouncy on the ruff stuff. Since fuel is so pricey atm, I currently have mine in Economy mode, which limits my revs and reduces my consumption.

Guilty as charged your Honor! Yep, there will be occasionally strange spelling for SEO purposes. The throttle controller is working great! Not as much difference with a na petrol motor as you would expect with a turbo diesel, especially one that feels a little laggy from the factory. The testing is still ongoing, I really want to map the input vs the output in the various modes. That's going to be tricky as the automatic mode is time dependant, still having a think about that one.

I use knock off staun delfators. Quickest and easiest way to get on the beach. You can do all 4 at the same time, but even better, I Pull up at the carpark, put all 4 on, drive onto the beach, by the time I'm on the sand, they are normally deflated enough, I just stop either where we're parking, or along they way to pull them off. It's a pain waiting for anyone using any other method.
