The route on which thr plane was flying must be having something unique in it.. Like some special weather conditions. I recently watched the Netflix web series Manifest where while on the routine path plane suffers some hard turbulence and then it lands 5 years in future. So might be that the pilot had something like this in his mind because he had been practicing that very route on his simulator. I might sound quite weird but till the time we don't get any strong evidence, we can only imagine in these different ways and searching can be done accordingly by the competent authorities.Also if I am not wrong then there is a mystery of a plane taking off and then landing after 35 years. So if this is true then there are chances of my theory to have some good base

The pilot just wanted prove everyone that the earth is flat and he can reach to the end.

What I believe- Instrument failure (justifying mumbling) followed by increase in altitude; may be cause autopilot pushed it to do so or some other reason ; pilots regain control and perform immediate descent ; but due to failure of all navigation instruments - loss of spatial awareness; flying to indian ocean while they were believing to be on routine path ; couldn’t see any land anywhere in middle of Indian ocean ; and ultimately doomed
