Ms. Mattie another suggestion. You can put lemon juice over your bananas to keep them from turning brown, then damp some of the lemon off the bananas slices.

I like the recipe but at lease two thing I remember my granny adding to her meringue was cream of tartar and sugar.but everything else looked just about like her and yes she did added flour or cornstarch to her filling for thicken but I like that place you omitted for thickening because as you stated the cookie will give it a nice thickness. ❤

Omg! I love it. Made me think of my beloved grandma. I can still remember her at the stove making the pudding and cutting up the banana and putting the cookies in a pan. This .... hands down beats ANY instant made pudding. Yum yum.
